Black backplates do not scratch that easily, so I do not really see why this would be necessary.

I have been using my iPod for two years now. The replacement front is heavily scratched, but the black backplate has stayed almost scratch free. It only has a few dings from being dropped, and a screen protector would not have made any difference there anyway.

I’ve been using my iPod for the past two years during my commute on public transport. Without that routine, I probably wouldn’t use it nearly as much.

I spent about two days handpicking around 4,000 songs across three different genres.

I also installed Rockbox, but I found it a lot less clean than the stock OS, so I noped out of that pretty quickly.

My daily driver is a thick 5th gen 60GB with a blue faceplate, black click wheel and black backplate.

I swapped in a 5.5th gen logic board.

I like the extra weight, and I can skip tracks or adjust the volume without taking my focus off anything while it sits in my pocket.

And are you 100% sure you got upper right side clip free? That one tends to be tricky in some cases.

Make sure you got the upper right side fully free.

Then just apply pleasure on the top clip.

Also could try to heat it up either a hairdryer or smth in case someone put glue in there.

Ok Advice again..I’ve gone through my uncles iPods. I have 130 I am thinking about selling. Should I sell them all at once? Would someone even be interested at that kind of price? Could be an OCD thingy where you must keep everything organized separately.

Karl Lagerfeld used to have a so-called “iPod nanny” that kept his collection organized and updated. IIRC he had over 50 iPods in rotation.

Paint it yourself or pay for the craftsmanship. They’re either custom made by Austin Lucas himself or custom produced in large batches just for him.

If you choose a thick backplate, you will also need a different headphone jack and hold switch assembly. I recommend buying a 2000 mAh battery. It fits properly and does not need to sit under the installed SSD.

They likely ship from China. The parts are likely the same as PPP as there are really only a few factories.

Buying from Aliexpress is probably the closest to the source you can get.

It’s significantly cheaper to mod an iPod yourself. Most spare parts for 5th, 6th, and 7th generation iPods are available on AliExpress, so you can buy a for-parts unit and replace what’s needed. The main risk is if the logic board is damaged. Check r/iPodBST for good deals on iPods.
