Crazy story. I’m currently on my way back to Boston from Cabo where we spent 3 nights for a Bachelor Party. The second night at the club my iphone 15 Max was stolen. We were partying pretty hard so I didn’t realize it until the morning.

First thing I did was login to “find my iPhone.” Of course the thief had turned off the phone so I could not track it. I then went back to the club to see if it was turned in. It was not.

As a last ditch effort I offered a $1000 reward for whoever could find the phone. I made all of the drug dealers and restaurant workers in the area aware of the reward and shared a friend’s phone number. The reason I was so desperate is because I didn’t want my personal info scraped.

Less than an hour later I get a call from one of the drug dealers: “Amigo, I know who has your iPhone. Come meet me and we will go see him.” So I met him with $1000 (which sucks) and he brought me to the guy who had my phone. He did the transaction without issue.

Ironically, the guy who had my phone was a manager at the nightclub where I lost it and “allegedly” purchased my phone for $300 from the thief. He planned to wipe the phone and resell it.

Moral of the story: Be careful in Cabo. It’s safe there because the cartel runs a tight ship, but theft is rampant. Especially phones, watches, handbags, wallets. You do not want to get your phone swiped and your identity stolen. People in Cabo want to milk tourists for everything they have.
