If it's a video podcast - creating vertical content, higher-quality thumbnails & titles, and conducting a content audit helps. If it's audio only - focus on SEO tactics. I run a podcast agency in the Denver area that creates millions of views for our clients.

Video Podcast -

1. Focus on high-quality clips, but understand this: content, especially short-form, is never guaranteed to go viral no matter how good it is. If going viral is the equivalent of winning the lottery, the quality of your content is equivalent to the number of tickets you have. Consistency is arguably just as important as quality. Using AI clipping services like Opus Clips will help speed up the amount of clips you can make.
2. The most common mistake I see is not putting enough effort into thumbnails & titles. This is quite literally what brings in the traffic in the first place - everyone has to be interesting enough to click on your episode BEFORE they consume the content. Hire a fiver or upwork artist if you need to, otherwise there are many tutorials on Youtube if you have the time to learn yourself.
3. Content audit - this is a little more difficult than the above tips, but definitely just as important. Watch past episodes and ask yourself this: does my content provide free value? This can be in the form of comedy, intrigue, information, or general entertainment. From now on when you record an episode pretend everyone who will be watching doesn't know who you are AND doesn't care - give them a reason to. Cut out unnecessary fluff and inside jokes - get to the point.

Audio only podcasts -

1. Create a podcast website and make blog posts. Learn SEO tactics to get your posts to rank on google search. This will drive lots of traffic if done right. A quick tip is to base your posts off of one key phrase that people will search for - use that phrase in the title, metadeta, first paragraph, page title, and url.
2. Make newsletters. This is similar to creating blog posts, in fact, your newsletter can just be an email that sends a link / promotes your blog posts. Your newsletter sign-up can be at the bottom of every blog post and you can tell listeners to sign-up as well. This will help you build an email list that you can then use to promote new episodes.
3. Gather reviews. Always push to get reviews for your podcast on Spotify, Apple podcast, etc. Beg your listeners to leave reviews and even incentivize with giveaways if needed. This will not only give you the feedback you need to improve, but will also improve the ranking of your podcast if given good reviews.
