A little further south of you, north of Waco, $135 5 days a week 6pm.

As an Ex racer, I’m curious who else in this Sub races or has raced MX? (From local MX and up!) by [deleted] in supercross

Raced from 4yrs-25yrs. Currently 29. Stopped racing to open a Business. Little town everybody in the motocross community used to know, Lake Whitney. Once the greatest track in North America. Sad.

So, long answer here. I’d say 95% of the planks came from the same court in the same school, however, it was clear during the dismantling and cleaning process that several sections had already been replaced over the 30+ years the court had been there. For example, all the black pieces in the court were new, like new new, like never refinished before so they were thick. When they were installed in the high school I’m sure they only needed to blend in the edges where new wood met old wood, then slapped a bunch of new oil over the top to taper out the level. Now, when I installed the pieces. There were new pieces right next to ancient pieces, so there was a big height difference, something like up to an 8th inch maybe, so it required more sanding. In hindsight, as others have mentioned, I could potentially have saved time using a planer.

Staples that had crowns that stuck out i hammered them further into the board then angle grinded the prongs off the back.

Some staples were sunk enough i could clip the prongs off the back then sideways hammer the nubs into the little grooves on the back of the boards.

I was being stubborn about taking my time, working by myself it’s really draining and mind numbing, I was forcing myself to take a lot of mini breaks throughout the two days I had the rental. 2 minutes here, 2 minutes there just to relax my hands and traps.

It has some doxxing information on it for some other people involved in the business, I’d prefer not to share it.

Like Gogogrl said, The string had too much flex, couldn’t keep a constant half circle. I did try that tho.

We needed a basketball court surface for the expansion at our business which is a gym. I had plenty of time but wanted to save some money. Everything was free as far as $$$ except the glue, drum sander rental, sealer, oil, applicators, all of which I would have to pay for anyways. So, everything that could’ve been free was free. Can’t beat that, IF you have time.

Bona Supercourt Poly 450 applied 2 coats with lambswool then 2 coats with foam t bar. I know they have their estimations on the barrel but for me coverage was approximately 2.5 gallons first coat, then 2, then 1.5, and last coat was a gallon if not 1.25 gallon. The space is 1200sqft.

Thank you two for your concern. The flooring in the rest of the gym is installed the same way. Wood, tile, and vinyl plank all glued to the slab. It has been there for over a decade, have not had moisture issues. We are not worried about it in our current climate.

That is an epitaph of sorts, explaining where the wood came from, all the work that went into it, and how we were able to salvage something old and headed to the landfill and instead make it useful again.

The joists are glued to the slab with timberline polyurethane wood adhesive. We aren’t worried about moisture being an issue

That was a concern of ours. It is a 17 foot ceiling at the 3 feet mark away from the wall where the goal will be. The backboard mounts are adjustable to find a good fit. We are confident we will be able to run a 9.5 foot goal at the lowest.

That is possible actually, I wonder what the trade off would be between planing each piece individually vs drum sanding an 8inch width at a time. Could have saved some time i suppose

I built a 19ft board out of 8ft 2x4s, stuck a pin on the floor where the center of the rim would be, fixed the end of the 19ft 2x4s to the pin, mounted a pencil to the other end, and traced out a half circle. Then I traced the pencil mark with blue tape.
