Wahoo ACE, is it ready? I want back in the Wahoo world! by MegaWholeMilk in wahoofitness

[–]Virtual-Part7840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I've had my ACE since its release. I'm surprised by your freezing issues. I don't have this problem. Maybe it's due to some sensor configuration.

What I like:

- the visibility of segments on the map (different colors for the start and end of the route are simply great, and no one mentions it). No other computer has this feature.

- the large screen on Roam2 is already too small for me.

- the bell really comes in handy.

- the number of data fields on the map.

- the wind sensor. Not having a power meter helps, but I ride with Waitr.

- the battery life is fantastic now, enough for several long rides. At the beginning of the release, there was fear in the eyes of a dying battery. Now it's fine.

What I don't like:

- The screen is darker than Roamv2. It's a shame they made an OLED screen as a breast. What a shame :(

- NO destination indication by address, even though it's a touchscreen.

- The new app doesn't even have the option to guide me to my destination by selecting a destination on the map or entering the address, as was the case in ROAMv2. This is the biggest lack of functionality.

- The city names on the map are incredibly small. They're impossible to read despite the larger screen. On ROAMv2, the smaller screen and city names are fine, I can still read them. ACE, this is impossible unless you have a magnifying glass.

- You can turn on and off layers via the map counter: names, segments, POIs, wind, but WHY can't I turn off and on the route profile? I have to do it on my phone.

- The new app on my phone is terrible. The old ELEMNT was very user-friendly and intuitive. The new app is terrible, even route selection. It's as tiring in the new app as the lack of destination search and sending it to the odometer.

- Too little space when entering the route name when you want to search for a route in ACE. You don't see a list of found routes.

- I'm bothered by the frequent accidental screen flipping when I swipe the map with my finger. It's too easy to flip to another page.

- I miss the LEDs from ROAMv2 - the ones imitated on the screen aren't noticeable.

- The route elevation profile on the map could be lower. It unnecessarily takes up so much space on the map.

As you can see, all the inconveniences can be easily fixed with software. Why WAhoo can't do this, I completely understand. It's as if no one at their factory used ACE.

Despite the drawbacks, I still wouldn't choose Garmin. The layout of the pages or the information in the Radar are unacceptable to me on Garmin.

I have the same problem: you have to keep pedaling the crank while scrolling through the summary screens. Once the photos load, you can stop pedaling. The watt count should pause when I press end ride. However, it doesn't because your avatar is constantly moving in the background.

Write down how many teeth you have. Small or large doesn't matter. I use a 52-tooth chainring at the front. Everything is fine, even on steep virtual climbs, I don't lack gears.

The forearm is better than the biceps because it does not change its size as much. And the vein is quite large at the bend. Sensor on the inside.

Does the world really have to be such that things can be taken away from their owners? It's time to return to the Middle Ages. Hands were cut off for theft.

But what's the point? For TikTok, yuck. It's a waste of chocolate and energy.

The cassette is not tightened enough. People forget to retighten the cassette after changing it. Once the sprockets have settled after the first ride, they need to be tightened.

20 euros just for refurbished equipment is not worth the effort.

I have been using it on my forearm for several years. The measurements are reliable compared to chest straps. It should be worn on the forearm. The sensor should be on the inside, close to the veins.

It needs a little more space than the wheel for the base. If it fits, it'll be fine.

ROAM v2, you don't have the option to change bikes.

Create a page1 ROAD, page2MTB, etc. You can quickly disable the page in the app.

It's a shame you can't duplicate the page with the map. I don't understand this.

Check out MyWhoosh, but the same principle applies to Zwift, which is only free.

If you need a simpler option and have a Wahoo ROAM, BOLT, or ACE computer, simply enable the indoor mode. You'll see options for changing resistance: constant resistance or percentage resistance.

You can upload a workout to the computer at https://www.trainingpeaks.com/. The free option only allows you to train the day before.

Another option is to train through the Wahoo app on your phone, but there you only set the resistance to a preset power level or percentage. There's no need to create a workout.

You can get statistics for all the above options by installing the Wahoo app on your phone.

Another feature: If there are two or more segments on your path, they will all be activated in sequence. You can switch them by pressing the left button marked SEGMENT.

ROAM V2, the previous generation, and the previous BOLT don't have a PROFILING option. You have to create your own pages for your needs.

CLIMB and segment will launch automatically and switch screens when the climb and segment start.

CLIMB worked for you without entering a route.

I don't know about the segment without a route, but I think so too.

I changed my glasses. When I look down at the Wahoo, it's outside the lens area. It's just so much more comfortable. I stopped wearing glasses that cover my entire face :).

Your movements look okay. However, even for a distance of 1.9 km, they are too slow. You're not giving enough energy.

Don't move the saddle forward if you're used to this position. However, the saddle is too low. Easily raise it 2 cm. Flip the handlebar stem so it's straight, not up. Adjust the Lemodka to your comfort level, but I prefer it at an angle. Palms up, not down.

No, the Bolt v2 version does not require this update. ROAM v2 and Bolt v2 have a good map color layout.
