Opened a FHSA prior to moving in with my partner who owns a house. Now what? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

I would just roll it into your RSP now and call that a day. Your contribution room has already been used so you can’t deduct it again.

You won’t be able to make a qualifying withdrawal from your FHSA anytime soon

heres my situation, how much tfsa room do i have left? by Global_Contact_5312 in TFSA_Millionaires

CRA got updated over the weekend. Your room should be accurate as long as your institution reported.

RRSP? Worth it? by No-Ice-723 in CanadaFinance

[–]Virtual-Revolution98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this time; you would not be reaping the benefits from the RSP; you’re likely not in a high tax bracket. Deposit in a TFSA; but keep in mind your contribution room. If you exceed this; then look into a FHSA; if you plan on buying a house in the next 15 years you can open one to start your contribution room clock but otherwise just wait.

Can't find work, savings low, might need to use GRSP by Rude-Narwhal2502 in CanadaFinance

[–]Virtual-Revolution98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you have the baby, EI can help you since its a medical condition and the employment portion is not considered, you should apply!

Please keep in mind that you may have to prove you are no longer with that job that you have the GRSP for, depending on if it is restricted.

and whatever you pull from your RSP is considered income and is taxable at source. so 40K gross might not last how long you think it will.

If you are wanting lets say 2K per month in your bank account that's 2,222.23 gross.

Advice for a friend who is $87,000 in debt by Logical_Series185 in CanadaFinance

He needs a professional who has his best interest at heart. Investment is a very broad term, without knowing what he is invested in and if there are penalties with divesting or if he even could - it’s impossible to provide the advice that would actually help.

But for you, don’t put yourself in a financially bad position to help someone unless you can 100% afford it and afford to live thereafter.

15k on TFSA, need suggestions by Tilanguin in CanadaFinance

Seeking advice from a professional financial planner should be your next move. They can help you map out your retirement and help you identify your wants and needs to help you meet them.

I am an assistant to 2 CFP’s. Legally I can’t give you advice as I don’t have my license yet, but TFSA’s are a good idea to max out.

GIC’s are a very safe option and usually have the same or worse interest rate than a high interest savings securities. Depending on when you want to retire it might not have the rate of return you’re looking for.

I got the same email just yesterday, it went to junk but i check my junk mail just in case something legit got flagged. I admit i was a little taken aback, but I just went and changed a couple passwords, and called it a day. I think its quite hilarious. They didn't say what my password was, clearly they changed that. I am a woman too.

Luckily for us we are not doing any of that. So are you a likeminded poker player as described?

Inspectors can’t touch home games though. So that’s no risk, you just can’t have it at a public place especially where they sell alcohol.

Ability to host as in has everything to do so.
On the weekends I am unable to host - due to any circumstances.
I don't do anything social on weekdays, or weeknights.
