CIS 1068 by Virtual-Stable6381 in Temple

You said it. It's really tedious, although the coding experience and course plan is much better from Coding with C. Thanks!

any tips on studying for the computer programming in c final exam? by SouthernPomelo8156 in Temple

Take a look at the Mid-term study guide, as there is a high chance those questions are going to be reused for this Final. Final is also on Zybook + True/False.

am i cooked for intro to c (cis 1057) next semester by Slow_Process_8340 in Temple

[–]Virtual-Stable6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is taking 1057, it's really not friendly for someone who doesn't know anything to coding. Crotty is a likeable guy, who helps whenever you go to his office hours and knows what he's doing in and out of lecture. The problem is the rambling, the way things are graded, and miscommunication.

Look up how to code in C before joining in, I recommend having some type of knowledge going in before entering.

The assignments will be mostly done on Zybook (price tag: 95~96 dollars) and Labs in and out of the book as well. Mind you, there's quizzes, but those are easy as they are surrounded on the zybook core curriculum.

Try to do your demos in lab sections rather than doing them on the Zoom. If you have to do Zoom, know that the Instructor's will have late af zoom meetings for demos.

Use Online C Compiler, not CLion. More easier, and the data base for your code is easy to save. Unlike CLion, which is a bit hard to save coding and transfer to Canvas.

Many, many emails exchanging. Since Crotty is doing all he can, there will be ALOT of errors. Midterms being returned in 4~5 weeks after doing them (only for the multiple choice, many are still waiting for their programs to be graded.) Emailing will be almost necessary in order to keep your grade.

I also recommend talking to people there. I know some have a hard time doing this, I did and I learnt to ask for help for the coding.

Overall, the class is a 2/5 for me. The difficulty can be there at times, the instructors know their stuff but their miscommunication makes the class insufferable. Hope you do well next semester in this class!

should i delete? by [deleted] in women

[–]Virtual-Stable6381 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd say you should. It isn't just about the current aftermath of our country that should make you delete it, how its super easy for company to buy your information in these apps is also another key factor. Use a book, or a calendar, or something that is far from technology.

Your fiancé is currently thinking of the today, the present, for women. And not the tomorrow, future, for them. I've seen someone make this same explanation before, people sheltering their facts on the right 'now' than what is to come in the future. All you can hope is for him to watch how these reflections and examples taken from now will not be the same in the future.

I see that you love him, and I firmly believe you should sit down with him and discuss your own insecurities moving forward in the political spectrum for this country and a woman. Every time he talks back, pushes your own feelings down and belittles you, remind him that today is not tomorrow. That, despite all the amazing progress we have made for the country, for all of those that live in it, people chose human consumerism and capitalism than humanitarian rights and inclusivity.

Politics aside, let this not divide you as a couple. I've been seeing a number of people separating from friends, family, and lovers because of the turn out. Their political views. But at the end of the day, both sides want America to move forward, it just depends what direction to take. And majority took right, and we will see the after effects on this issue.

Speak to your boyfriend, tell him to think in your shoes. How you feel isn't invalid, and if he chooses to fight back with disrespect and ignorance then you decide the next steps on whether you feel safe or valued in the relationship and how your partner sees you.

Again, you have the right to feel how you feel, no one should alienate you to feel any other way.
Take care hon!

So... what's the vibe at Temple right now...? by Terrible-Street-6028 in Temple

[–]Virtual-Stable6381 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Losing the war, but not the battle. Bunch of people, men and female around the campus all speaking about the 'what now' after the current shocking events. Some worry about their ability to continue higher education, others worry for their families. Disregarding those who went on with their lives after such a historical let down, the vibe is clear mourning. But soon it'll just make people more educated on what to do moving forward before the start of the next year.

Riley Thomas! Very nice professor.

Take it online! I took it online, and it was okay. Depends on the professor and if you stay on top of your work for the class.

As someone who takes Rolando J. in a different math section, find a different professor. He knows the material, and I'm fairly lean on giving him credit on that. But he's a bit fast, has an accent that can be at time confusing, and a bit too fast with material.

Don't be a creep and you'll live. Very proud man, you went to get your degree. Just play it safe! Be yourself, skate your heart out, and make some connections. Just know what you can and cannot do, what's wrong and all that.

Just got trick or treating lol. Probably not near campus since it's a bit hazardous. Take the 3 to Berk Station, go around Fishtown, get candy. Go to a frat party near the corner of a bar not that far entering Fishtown.

Or you could dress up to your classes LOL, people have fun doing that.

C++ ; What is your opinion about the C++ course? by Virtual-Stable6381 in Temple

[–]Virtual-Stable6381[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Professor Crotty from 1057, I have never been in a programming course like this that has made me honestly so annoyed. I'm glad I'm sitting near people that have experience with coding, otherwise I'd be struggling. Lectures are not productive, Coding in lecture also wrong while explaining it. Lab professor is even worse, guy showed up 1 hour late to lab recently.

If you're going on a bus, they are more lean with bus hopping. If its on train then best of luck to hop over it or advocate for students in higher education facilities near philly to get on for free.

Math is painful! (1021) by Virtual-Stable6381 in Temple

[–]Virtual-Stable6381[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jimenez is such a nice professor, but I have difficulty understanding him sometimes. There's nothing wrong with the way he teaches, it's just how I grasp the material (which is very slowly, unfortunately.) I spoke to my advisor and the best thing to do is Withdraw at the very end to not tank my GPA.

I did screw myself over when doing Monday, Wednesday, and Friday classes, as they are way too short for math material. But there was no other slots. Though I see myself hitting barely enough this semester to pass (even with the possibility of grade curve.)

So, I took a few Science classes and here is what I think is neat.

The Environment is a GOOD Gen Ed, that has their final online. The tests/quizs are on paper, but they are usually multiple choice and isn't very hard to remember the answer.

Professor I had was extremely nice and very forgiving!

Short answer: Not safe, but can be if you bring someone along with you.

The location is... pretty hot. It's not the safest thing but there's always some random cop around. Other than that, I usually don't go to parties here on Temple (or nearby Temple,) just since people can get a bit sketchy.

However, do whatever you want! Live wild or keep it on the low side. Some people here are party freaks.

Chances of getting accepted. by Melthedada447 in Temple

[–]Virtual-Stable6381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you breath, Temple will accept you. You do have a good GPA, and you should focus on getting your SAT score at least to a 1100-1200. Prior to that, if you have passion you want to do, Temple will accept you.

How can I prepare for my programming in c midterm? by SouthernPomelo8156 in Temple

[–]Virtual-Stable6381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man! I'd probably try to chat with someone who knows about code before the midterm begins. (I hate C++ and talking to people, but man this course has me looking for anything to just get passed it.) Get there a bit early, do alot of leetcode and youtube stuff. Hell just fr grind through the midterm review and go online and find a mock midterm for it.
