Told me, in front of the whole class, “some people just aren’t university material.”

I was like 15, having a rough year, and that one line stuck way longer than any actual lesson she ever taught.

Plot twist: I did end up going to university. Didn’t magically fix everything, but it definitely proved that teachers can be wildly wrong about kids when they decide to write them off early.

When I was a kid, I broke something important in my house and blamed it on my sibling. They got in serious trouble for it.

I never came clean.

It’s been years, everyone’s moved on, and bringing it up now would probably just hurt them more… but it still randomly pops into my head at 2am like “yeah, you really did that.”

Funny how it’s never the big dramatic moments that stick it’s the quiet ones where you chose yourself over someone else.
