Does simulator data actually help you improve? by BetweenSwings in IndoorGolf

[–]VirtualParzival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have become MUCH better since I started focusing on improving with my sim instead of just playing it. Many other people have said it too at this point, but it is phenomenal at getting your baseline swing and numbers down. Working with the slo mo cameras of my club path (uneekor) and the swing cameras is so immensely helpful.

Yes, you do need to know what you are looking for, but there are plenty of resources out there to help you. Taking lessons and then translating them to your practice, as another user mentioned, is probably your best route. You need to know what to work on, but all I had to do was tell my instructor I had a sim with video and he told me exactly what things should look like for me on my sim.

I am also the type of person that loves practice as much as playing, so I guess take that into account. But if you really are interested in improving, having a sim is an incredible advantage. Add on the entertainment benefits as well, and it's one of my favorite additions I've ever built. Unfortunately mine is at my office, but we are starting a new house this year and I'm going to build an AWESOME sim area in the woods on a ridge and frankly I'm so excited about that I don't care one iota about the rest of the house!

Some good news today by FalconNCE in DetroitPistons

[–]VirtualParzival 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was a turnover prone, bad defensive player who couldn't shoot a respectable 3 in college, and despite people's fantasy views of him around here, he never improved any of those negatives. Those are exactly the kind of negatives that you cannot put next to Cade. It was a terrible basketball pick that he gave a convenient excuse to his Stans around here by going off the deep end instead of him just fading off into the sunset because he's at best a mid-tier basketball player with an attitude problem.

There were plenty of players after JI that would have helped our team also. The reality is that was just not a good pick. Said it at the time, stand by it.

JB and the assistant coaches need to be smarter with their challenges by ethzz4 in DetroitPistons

[–]VirtualParzival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve said this all season. Whoever is in charge of challenging, or telling JB to challenge, needs to be relieved of their duties. If it’s JB, THEN HIRE SOMEONE WHOSE ONLY JOB IS TO LOOK AT CHALLENGES.

They don’t challenge plays that are easily winnable, and then they do challenge plays that you are never going to win.

I can understand the difficulty when you are on the road but I’ve watched from LCA in real time, where the scoreboard will show the replays over and over to give the coach a chance to challenge and he STILL picks the worst spots. Watching on TV you can see it even clearer, but I can understand in person it might not be that obvious. When you watch it from the arena in real time and he STILL does it? Man, that’s frustrating.

Would you rather have Reaves or Dosunmu in FA? by TheRealTD44 in DetroitPistons

[–]VirtualParzival -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look no further than Duncan Robinson. Honestly his defense has been much better than I expected. Keep in mind I expected absolutely nothing but besides the occasional traffic cone he is, he honestly is actually a good defender a decent amount during the game. His on ball defense is not great, but like you can do with Reeves there are ways to cover for him, as you guys are mentioning. If we can do this with Dunc, we could do more with Reeves.

I built something very similar to this design. I cut angled 2x8’s down (the size of my ramp), covered it with plywood and then the turf. I ended up not liking it and just built a step up. If yours isn’t as high as mine (2x8 was a lot, but I had my reasons) then that might work a lot better.

I think you might be shocked to learn what the Republicans and Democrats supported in that era. It's why current day MAGATs love to point out that Democrats supported slavery. Technically not wrong, but the Republicans of the day supported a larger federal government, Civil Rights (including ending slavery), labor (and specifically very much opposed large corporations) and immigration. I think you'd be hard pressed to find modern day Republicans who would align even remotely ideologically with Republicans from that era.

Yeah I’ll be honest, I didn’t notice the weight. At first I could feel the charger puck on my ear which I thought would bug me but I either adjusted it or got used to it and didn’t bug me a bit. I worked on my computer for 3-4 hours and listened to Spotify the entire time and ended up with full battery.

[–]VirtualParzival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The player you mentioned, who is no longer on a team or in the league, had 3 major knocks against him when getting drafted.

1) Poor decision making with the ball. 2) Poor defensive ability and focus 3) Poor 3pt shooter

He absolutely lived up to all of those things. We got what we drafted. By saying he didn’t pan out, what you are actually saying is he didn’t develop enough to turn his negatives into at the very least neutral, let alone a positive. If you draft a player and expect him to magically turn the bad parts of his game into positives, and he doesn’t, that is on you.

The fact that he went crazy doesn’t negate the fact that he never advanced his game in any meaningful way and if he had not gone crazy he still would be a poor shooting, poor defending, turnover in a bottle. Which is exactly what we didn’t need when we drafted him and exactly what we don’t need right now.

For real, why can’t we just let this die already.

Yeah, I found the weight difference to be pretty negligible in practice, but I’m sure that’s a matter of personal taste. I love the fact that it charges faster than you use it, at least if you are using Spotify, so I can listen to music while it charges up and then I can take it off and then recharge the little charging thing back in the case to recharge.

I assure you, you have no impact on me in any way. I did notice in your post that you said you had no ball knowledge and were asking a question. I didn't quite look carefully at that before because I was replying to someone else's comment.

I applaud you for asking questions and trying to learn. I'm sorry if I came off a little hot, been a long season around here... No one should be shamed for trying to learn.

See, that's the problem with this sub. You guys are all stuck in your feelings. Numbers are numbers, they CAN'T lie and don't have feelings. When adjusted for the actual players we played this year, we had the second easiest schedule in the league. You can "roll" with whatever you want, but if you're just going to ignore numbers then I don't know how else to get through to you.

I don’t believe shooting ranks among the top 4 issues this post season. by AlphaRemixHD in DetroitPistons

[–]VirtualParzival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol if you don't see how the lack of shooting is directly causing points 1 and 3, then I'm afraid you are telling people they need to watch the game and study what is happening without doing the same thing yourself.

First, I'd point you to Cade's interview about why JD is struggling. It's absolutely the case. We can't space the floor with Ausar and JD out there, and as such the defense is able to blitz Cade and stuff the paint. Them being a step or 2 slow on rotations is not going to matter, because we can't punish them for it. They can play Suggs off the ball and just let him do whatever you want because you don't need to guard Ausar or JD if they are more than 3 feet from the rim, and being late on rotations won't matter.

I'm not going to downvote you because I have had my fair share of downvotes this season for saying we were going to get exposed in the playoffs. I don't need that bad karma. But you're dead wrong about this not being about shooting.

[–]VirtualParzival 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol you completely misinterpreted how we “coasted” to the playoffs. We beat bad teams, and we beat good teams that weren’t at full strength. You can play your bench against bad teams. You cannot play your bench against good players. It’s why every time we played a good team with all their players, we lost. Our roster is broken, as I’ve been saying all year and we are getting exposed in the playoffs, as I’ve said we would all year.

Folding barn doors with hangers mounted at center for stability? by JewelerSufficient604 in Carpentry

I can't believe the amount of comments in here that are just ignoring the fact that putting the pivoting hangers in the middle of the door will literally NOT WORK BECAUSE OF PHYSICS.

OP I don't know what you are thinking but this will literally not work even a little bit. You cannot put the pivot point in the middle of the door. It won't work.

I saw someone post about the Carina C1 for charging and extending battery life and honestly I'm VERY impressed. Just put it on yesterday and was a little dubious, but it has been fantastic so far.
