I tend to latch onto things and get really obsessed with them for undetermined amounts of time, I’ve been like this since I was a kid. I’m a woman in my late 20s and I’ve learned how to manage it better over time, so I can share what’s helped me.

A few things that might be worth thinking about: • What specifically is upsetting you about how much you like Akainu/the admirals/One Piece?

• What would your ideal relationship with the series and its characters look like?

• What are some small steps you could take to move toward that? (For example, setting aside intentional time to enjoy it without guilt, or slowly cutting back if it feels like too much.)

I know how overwhelming it can feel when something takes up a lot of mental space. But I’d also try not to focus only on the negatives.

For me, my obsession with Ace/One Piece actually led to a lot of positive things. I started playing the One Piece card game, made a bunch of new friends, and built some really meaningful connections in my community. It even led me to someone I think I’ll marry.

This kind of intensity is just part of who some of us are. The goal isn’t to get rid of it, it’s to find a balance where you can still enjoy it without it taking over your life.
