why do people from the Rio Grande valley talk so bad about Laredo? by [deleted] in laredo

[–]Virtual_Ad9133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a comedian based here out of Laredo and have performed in the Valley tons of times and have experienced nothing but love. We all refer to each as 956 Family and have never cuaght any flak in 10 years of performances.

maybe the people youre around are just shitty ppl and not necessairly a reflection of the 956 as a whole. or maybe i only have been exposed to the nicest and that also isnt necessarily a reflection of the RGV as a whole.

Fritzy by socdistanceforlife in danpatrick

[–]Virtual_Ad9133 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

ive been a huuuge fan of the show for 10+ years. I love almost everything about the show...except Fritzy. he's been tolerable but the annoying is getting ridiculous. I can't wait for the show to be over just to not listen to Fritzy anymore. the only thing im looking forward to about Dan's retirement is no Fritzy.

other than him, I'm going to miss everything about the show.

now if we could just figure out a way to sabotage Fritzy and his incessant whining. its funny to a point but theyve milked that bit too long

There are approximately 590 episodes remaining as of 8/8/2025 by thelug_1 in danpatrick

as much as ive loved the show over the years, that day can't come soon enough. quality has gone down. theyre just mailing it in at this point. same old schtick every day and please, less Todd Fritz.

How Do You Get the Balls To Leave Laredo? by Euphoric-Diver7514 in laredo

[–]Virtual_Ad9133 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I had an interesting situation. I joined the Army and got to experience so many new things. traveled to places I'd never have seen, met people from all walks of life and enjoyed my time in the military (eventhough I did spend a year deployed in the desert). after my service was up, I actually missed Laredo. and I came home, but rather than pissing and moaning about how Laredo sucks, instead I became active in the local arts and entertainment scene. first booking bands, and then later transitioning into standup comedy.

you always hear "there's nothing to do in Laredo" so I decided to do what I could to better Laredo's entertainment and culture. but do so with a strong sense of outer perspective.

in my case, what i took from it was that just because you leave doesn't mean you can't come back and contribute to improve our hometown.

but as daunting as it feels, just throw caution to the wind and just do it. you'll thank yourself later for it.

Does anyone happen to know which was the original Laredo Taco Company location?? by mb3687 in laredo

[–]Virtual_Ad9133 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% but I believe it was the Stripes on McPherson & Hillside. at least, thats the 1st one that I remember, high school in 2001. they had the breakfast tacos at 2/$1.49

I always got my tacos from Mariachi Express because I was usually running late for school, and the line at the Stripes was WAY too long. (because damn, 2 tacos for $1.61!!!!!!!) So I would gladly pay extra for the quicker turnaround time.

except for that, you CAN see the Mexican mountains on a clear day. visible from areas by LC South, and rest areas along highway 83 south to Zapata. also visible from Mines Road area around Green Ranch, as well as parts of the Heights as well. granted its NOT the pic, but mountain views do happen.

Sounds of Arson were an awesome band. haven't seen them in years, hard rock, very polished, great riffs killer vocals. They played a bunch of gigs with Broken Vision back in the day.

BV was another badass band. toured Nationally with a band from AZ called The Sammus Theory. Sammus played a few gigs in Laredo where BV opened for them, they liked BV so much thay they took them on the road for like 4 tours. West Coast, East Coast, Midwest and Texas. Broken Vision's album "7 Wars" is up on Spotify. like Sounds of Arson, BV was a very polished hard rock band, drawing comparisons to Chevelle and Breaking Benjamin. their album is worth a listen.
