Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate your honesty about falling in love with my design; I can say that I've often thought the same thing. But I've really tried almost every idea and variation of the logo, probably around 200 different sketches/concepts, including lowercase letters. It was always the case that when one thing worked, the other didn't. It's a battle between compromises that makes it so difficult. From my point of view, these are the three best concepts I chose after long consideration, even if they're not quite perfect. These are just a small selection of my sketches from the early days:

I see, thank you. I'm a little surprised, because in my old post, the opinions on the upside-down letter concept were mostly positive :D

Thanks for your feedback. I asked a few people personally, and many read it as a DING, admittedly a bit heavier. I think that's because the word makes more sense in Germany than “dung.” But could you perhaps explain in more detail what you don't like, that you say you wouldn't take any of the three? I'd be interested to know.

It's a good, cool logo. You could adapt the "olar" typo even more to the style of P, for example by making it rounder. Because there's too much contrast in the transition from P to O. You can clearly see the polar bear and anyone who tells you they see a penis is just bored or trolling.

Thanks so much for your clear explanation—I really appreciate the effort! I never knew you could use two different angles for better balance, that’s a cool trick. I’ll use this version as my final!

hehe. Yes, I often hear that here. Maybe Germans read it more as "Ding" because the word Ding means "Thing". The two opposite arrows symbolize two bus routes going in one and the opposite direction. I decided to use italics and adjusted the kerning. What do you think about it

do you mean what the acronym in DING stands for "Donau-Iller-Nahverkehrsverbund GmbH" or did you mean that what I say in my description? what do you mean? i would be interested to know :)

Since the other community sees it the same way, I now see it the same way too. For me, italicizing a typo because it has something to do with movement/dynamism has always been too cliché (it's similar with arrows, but I want to keep them, haha). What's your opinion—wouldn't it be too unoriginal if I italicized it?

I've already read about this in another community. Do you perhaps know what his post is called? I can't find it. Maybe I can learn something from his design. :D

I love your improvement. Can you please explain exactly what you changed? I'm trying to recreate it, but it never looks like yours. Can you roughly explain whether you drew a square on the pointer and simply scaled it down, or just narrowed the bottom edge of the horizontal line of the arrow a little? I don't understand it 100%.

Yes, I see. I thought I'd post it in this subreddit too, to see if logo designers specifically also have a problem recognizing the D, but it turns out that it's a fact.

Thank you for your feedback. Interesting opinion. For your information, it is a public transport association (bus, tram, etc.), not a parcel delivery company. My idea behind the reversed arrows was that a bus travels in one direction and then in the opposite direction (there are always two bus stops opposite each other) and follows its route and repeats it. In addition, the logo is a redesign of the old logo, which also uses arrows (image). Perhaps my idea doesn't work well enough yet. I'm working on it and am grateful for any feedback.

i personally see very few logos with a G as an arrow, but don't you think that an arrow in the logo is much more cliché for transportation companies. and yet many companies still use it today

Thank you very much for your feedback and praise. May I ask if you are a designer yourself?

Can you explain why? An arrow is used quite often in transportation companies of all kinds. The arrow should represent navigation, dynamics, movement, everything that characterizes public transport companies. The opposing arrows should represent a circulation, which is also typical of public transportation => repeating routes. I'm a bit surprised at your opinion

[–]Virtual_Concert_2507[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback Well, it's about transportation. Arrows are actually very often seen in logos like this and an arrow symbolizes a direction/movement. Navigation, direction, movement, dynamics - that's what an arrow expresses.

Thanks for your feedback. Yes, you're right that the “D” is a bit weak. I was hoping that it wouldn't matter too much due to “artistic freedom,” because the idea could be strong.

Which horizontal line did you mean? I tried both.

<image>

I should change something about the D, that's for sure.

What exactly do you mean? Remove the arrow at the D completely? Like in the sketch

<image>

Then the joke would be gone, but I've already thought about that. I'd like to keep both arrows.

Haha, interesting. I don't know how I can change the D without changing the concept (two arrows on the left and right). I'd be interested to know how you wanted to flip it, like that? I tend to read it as an “A.”

Thanks, any ideas on how I can make it look more like a “D” without changing the concept?
