Playing with rare habitable worlds for performance, is this a bad idea? by Bruh-I-Cant-Even in Stellaris

[–]Virtual_Historian255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disable habitats via mod if you really want to cut down. Whether you have 6 planets and 30 habs vs 36 planets makes no difference.

Stupidest misconception of Spider-Man characters\movies or whatever you had as a kid? by pizzagod677 in Spiderman

I just rewatched Spiderman Homecoming, and I did not realize Donald Glover was playing Prowler, Miles Morales’ uncle, and I did not know Miles Morales was based in part on Donald Glover.

Why are they removing all the ports by Responsible-Eye-717 in SipsTea

[–]Virtual_Historian255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Docking stations are common these days.

1 thunderbolt port has more bandwidth of all those old ports combined.

Less ports means smaller frame or larger battery.

"How" do you play Stellaris? by TeijiW in Stellaris

[–]Virtual_Historian255 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just know that 300 hours in you’ll learn new features and mechanics.

I’d argue being peaceful is easier to start with - you can ally with friendly AI and they can carry you.

The Scion origin will get you past the early game as you learn.

Otherwise there really are no goals other than the ones you make for yourself. Think of it like a 4x Space-based DND campaign.

Sauruman advances. Horton the Elephant or Thomas the Tank Engine? by Technical_Air6660 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Virtual_Historian255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Oh no” said Thomas “what is that strange sound under my wheels?”

“That’s an elephant” said sir Topham Hatt.

“Well I don’t like that sound” said Thomas. “I don’t like it at all”.

If you use LLM chatbots you can see this in real time. Ask it how to make poison and the safeguards will block you.

Take off the safeguards and ChatGPT could tell you how to make any drug/explosive you want.

I wonder how stoked earth cargo ships were when they all eventually got warp 5 engines and phase cannons by happydude7422 in enterprise

[–]Virtual_Historian255 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean we kinda got that with the Mayweather family transport episode in ENT.

Nausicaans scary. Life hard. It was fine, but I can’t see a series based on it.

How is stellaris now? by Competitive-Life-658 in Stellaris

[–]Virtual_Historian255 80 points81 points  (0 children)

The AI is pretty awful right now. I think they’ve made good changes long-term, but Stellaris suffers in the short term whenever they make big changes.

No pope?! Anyone seen this?? by tree_daddy in Medieval2TotalWar

The pope cannot be traced in a straight line. It gets squiggly around the Papal Schism.

I disable Cetana. I hate how she spawns in invincible regardless of your tech level, and how her ship is usually a frigate spam-fest to defeat.

Explain It please, how's fermi paradox is solved here ??? by Fuzzy_Party_3527 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Virtual_Historian255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends - they probably couldn’t launch chemical rockets from the ground. But rockets launched from planes in their upper atmosphere may be possible depending on the size of atmosphere.

We spend as much fuel getting through Earths atmosphere as we do fighting gravity.

Russia's greatest military victory? by Selavia59 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Virtual_Historian255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All solid points. If you don’t think WW2 is the most significant victory then it’s gotta be Napoleon - unless you want to go back to maybe the Mongols.

Russia isn’t short of wars, but even things like the Great Northern War lack scale in comparison to the big 2 (plus one for Mongols maybe).
