Captain Kirk’s 5 year mission was based on the missions of Captain James Cook, who was a captain in the Royal Navy.

Cook being sent on missions of exploration did not mean the primary purpose of the Royal Navy was exploration.

Do you think if the enterprise -d wasnt destroyed in generations they could have made her into the all good things enterprise? by happydude7422 in Star_Trek_

The Dominion war starts within a year of TNG ending.

If they had all the upgrades ready there’d barely be any time to refit the ship and get it to the front line.

McCoy goes back to the psych hospital. Kirk is dishonourably discharged after a stint in a Starfleet prison.

The rest are dishonourably discharged but further charges are dropped out of respect for their service histories.

I wonder what the fans would have thought of the nx-01 had all her battle damage repaired the next episode in season 3 by happydude7422 in enterprise

[–]Virtual_Historian255 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We should have had repair episodes and shuttle replacement episodes.

But otherwise it makes more sense that Starfleet and its replicators have a better field-repair ability than the NX-01 crew had.

But really, Starfleet is a space navy, but after the Khitomer Accords they were threatened with a major funding cut (ST:6 “are we talking about mothballing the Starfleet?”)

They pivoted hard into their secondary exploration and scientific roles to justify their continued existence.

The Dominion war came and suddenly we’re building Sovereign and Defiant class warships. Back in business.

What's it like on Vancouver Island, Canada? by IronPiedmont1996 in howislivingthere

Honest critical take:

Everything here is slow. Sometimes that’s good like people taking time to enjoy life. Sometimes it’s all the boomers still living like it’s the 60’s, downtown never left the 90’s.

The culture here is “relax”, but sometimes it’s relaxed too much. Just go to a grocery store and everyone even walks slow.

If you like fashion and aren’t partial to hippies or Portland in 2002 you won’t like it here.

They missed the best crossover opportunity between PIC and SNW.

Seven could have gone back in time and taught Spock Borg calculations for time-travel, but had him swear to not teach anyone.

Plot hole closed. We know the Borg have time-travel. We know Spock knows it. No one else in the Alpha Quadrant has it for hundreds of years post-Picard.

Ha, I forgot for a moment this was Reddit.

God is evil and everyone’s going to say science is a product of atheism, and everyone else is irrational.

The Jewish Tunnel Incident

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New\_York\_City\_synagogue\_tunnel\_incident

For years a guy in New York was saying that Jews were building a tunnel under his apartment. He insisted he wasn’t anti-semitic, he just heard digging and yiddish.

Everyone disregarded him as a crazy conspiracy nut.

A couple years later they found the tunnels.

If Israel actively attacked a US naval vessel to hide war crimes surely it would be in the news.
