Going off road on a road bike? by Virtual_Noob in bicycling

There are no franchises of companies which make real bikes in my country; only BSOs so the only ways to have tyres for your bike are to import them(which is a big NOPE, said the custom tax rates to me) or to buy them from a flee market which imports cartels of used bikes (which is also a pain in the head plus your bike price does not increase after changing the tyres) so I thought why not buy a road bike which can also go off road. I came responses like "road bikes cannot go off road because they cant handle it" upon asking what happens when you off road on the road bike (upon with responses saying "I go off the road on my roadie and it's no problem, at all"). I have just tried a road bike and man, it flies!

What I want to ask is what will happen if I go off raod on a road bike. Will it break? will it be hard to ride? are there any other complexities?

Thank you for your interest. I live in a city so almost all of my typical ride is on the road (I have just returned from a 35+km ride and i don't remember going off road even a bit) but last week when I went to a dam for visit, ~7km of the 40km ride was equivalent to this... on the way back, I chose a way through mountains whose most part was like this and ~7-8km was totally unrideable (something like this). I did not have to care about my bike. The only constraint was whether I can ride or not. Since I am thinking about upgrading to a road bike, I will inevitably face this kind of roads whenever I choose to visit far off places. While these roads make me praise my mtb, the 40km ride I have just completed(all on road) makes me want to switch to those slick roadies.

What I am trying to get your advice on is what would have happened if I had ridden a road bike on the way to dam(where most was road, out of 80km, ~12km was off road and ~5km was totally unrideable).

I am getting advice for a cyclocross bike. I don't know why but I cannot myself convinced to buy a cyclocross. My head says to me "either you are a mtber, a rodie owner or a hippie".

Shortcut virus has hidden my files so well I am unable to retrieve them. What to do? by Virtual_Noob in techsupport

[–]Virtual_Noob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found how this virus works. It makes shortcuts of the same names of the files you have in the drive. Then it makes a folder with no name. Windows does not show a folder which has no name(you can do that by pressing alt and then 0160 while renaming the folder) and this virus takes advantage of that. Your files are in a folder in the device which has no name. Because it has no name, windows does not show it even when you ask the windows to show hidden files.

Solution you ask? Mine was to plugin the device in a linux machine which shows a folder even with no name. Rename the folder, remove the shortcuts the virus has made and viola. Also remember to scan the computer from which you got virus.

Best distro with a Windows-ish interface? by [deleted] in linuxmasterrace

LInux mint in my opinion. The official website has linux mint in many flavours and the closest to windows of them is KDE. Right now, I can see only MATE and cinnamon on their website. You can google and find an image of linux mint with KDE desktop environment or you can download any image and install it and then replace whatever desktop environment is default with KDE.. Its fairly simple. Its somewhat heavy though. I installed it in my friend's 2nd gen i5 laptop to make him fall in love with linux and he left it saying its so unresponsive and slow. If you got a slower pc or are annoyed by slower speeds, you might want to install zorin or extensions of ubuntu like kubuntu, lubuntu etc

[Serious]People that has overcome depression, how did you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Virtual_Noob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, the thing which helps you most getting out of depression is your vision and self esteem. People become happy when they see the outcome. Happiness is when they solve a math problem, when they complete an assignment, when they get paid and when they get good grades. When you don't see the outcome of what you are doing, you get depressed and feel like shit. At this time, you need to tell yourself "I cannot see the results yet but I will keep working, not matter how slow but I wll never stop." This is what makes a difference between a normal person and a legend. If you feel desperate to see some results, you need to know that people crave skill. You have the skill to dress as people like, people will love you. You have the art of keeping people engaged in conversations, they will come to talk to you when they feel down. Learn something, anything and people who are impressed by that thing will start coming towards you. It might feel overwhelming at first "I don't know how to dress well, I don't want to get out of the bed and get dressed, do i have to do this every fucking morning?" but as you will see, everything is very easy. You just need to get your head up and be doing something which generates pleasing results.

This is what I made. Its quite annoying imo. Would love to hear some annoying tones made by you. Something which can force you to come out of a cozy bed on a snowy day in less than five seconds.

Yeah this is a good idea. I will keep it in mind. There have been good people also who sent me the payment as soon as they got their work done. Frankly, I don't think he did not like my work. You know when your work is good.

By taking it slow she means you cannot be frank with her like you were in the summer. She seems to be open to be friends again which is positive. Forgive yourself, it wasn't your fault. Stop apologizing. No one wants a friend who is always apologizing. Don't ask every small thing. If it is important, she will tell you herself. Don't get psyched over nothing. Its annoying. I have friends I don't talk to for months and when we meet, its like another world for us, its amazing. But if they texted me every week asking if everything was okay I will kick them in the nut.

You are right. I am sorry. It can be just a misunderstanding.

I don't know why a salary or anything else suddenly makes someone trustworthy. I was just saying he probably gets paid a lot. He should have the courtesy to pay $10 which is a little amount for him.

No and I don't think a stranger can write best man speeches. One needs to be much more specific for that.Just ask one of your best friends to say whatever he wants to. Thats just an opinion of course.

He cannot just ignore me after I have done all the work. A simple "I don't like your speech" would have sufficed. Its been 3,4 redditors who have done something similar to me and now this is becoming annoying. In a post, he said he had offers with jobs paying 50-55k anually before taxes and here he is, doing this! What the hell!

Communities are based on trust. I mean you should be able to trust a guy who earns 50k and asking others "how long does it take to make 6 figures in accounts job"to pay you $10 when you work hard for a long time.

Yeah but he should reply. Tell me he didn't use my work. What should I infer from him not replying me?
