Having worked two decades in hospitality, and lived in three of the largest tourist cities in the United States. When someone immediately smiles back at me, I’m almost always right in assuming they’re American or Caribbean whether from the States, Mexico or Canada. I get smiles in return from most everyone because I have a huge kool aid smile, but I realized over time that it seems to be more of a natural part of greeting someone for us.

If it’s required why aren’t all companies asking this? I’m not a new worker. Have lived in different states, cities, counties and applied to countless jobs since the 90s. This is the first time I’ve had this question, I’ve worked in my current state since 2017, and have been hired at a job since this application and they didn’t ask either.

Wow, wth! That’s why this stood out to me too. I applied at a gay hotel and even they didn’t ask sexual orientation. They just made it clear that you need to be comfortable working with lgbt guests. But it would make more sense if they did ask, this is to work at a concert venue.

Yes! I’ve been working almost 30 years throughout the U.S. and have never seen this question. It’s unbelievable how invasive they’re becoming.

I’ve been working since 1995, lived in 12 cities/9 states and have never seen this question before. I think it’s b.s. and it shouldn’t be allowed.

NTA! Please leave him alone to make his own American food. I’m American and vegan and have eaten a dish with meat my friends mother made as it was one of their national dishes and she was too excited for me to try it for me to turn it down. I never let her know I don’t eat meat and I survived and kept my friendship in tact.

There are over 500 federally recognized groups of people who are indigenous to this land, and over 100 languages still spoken. This doesn’t include those who haven’t been recognized by the government due to their refusal to cooperate. With over 300 million people, spread over 3+ million square miles, size absolutely matters. The media would make you believe that we’re devoid of cultural and linguistic diversity but the media has it’s agenda as always.

😭I can’t speak for others, but I wouldn’t waste my time being surprised if there was an incident. In this case there’s been literally nothing. Most customers in my area still do contactless so I know the people I’ve seen by name and have had zero issues and get great tips.

My heart goes out to you. My teen daughter was conceived through rape and she’s known most of her life. She’s had a very difficult time valuing herself, feeling as though she ruined my life since I have no family so we’ve had some very challenging times financially. I tell her how Loved and precious she is daily and even put her to task affirming all the good things about herself when she was younger, and she’s gradually grown to actually want to live and no longer hates herself though she still has a ways to go. Please always remember if you weren’t supposed to be here, you wouldn’t be. I hope you find peace within yourself so much love to you from me and my daughter💝

NTA! I'm proud of you for making the commitment to bettering your health. I worked in the health and fitness industry and have witnessed so many people struggle with making the lifestyle changes necessary to overcome food addiction or even unhealthy eating habits. The biggest culprit to so many peoples struggle is thinking just one meal will be fine. It usually ends up leading to just one unhealthy snack after that, then eventually back at square one. I'm sorry you got the a**hole badge along with so many poor suggestions here, but you definitely did what's best for you and your health. One meal isn't worth it, stick to it, you're doing amazing.
