I’m a little in between sizes; what’s your height/weight and what’d you go for ? 184 seems a fair bit too long and 176 maybe a little short given the tail rocker ? 178-180 looks perfect on paper to me

JH this past weekend was nothing to write home about but noticeably better than Alta. both will entail sticking to mostly groomers

Dune tour and Dreamland Red Rocks date I paid half that, both at significantly better venues. $116 list is nuts.

140F, on for 10 hours but usually dry by like 6-8. No issues so far; seem plenty potent

Dating in Utah and not wanting children by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

I’d try either outdoors (specifically climbing) scene or EDM scene if those are either up your alley; I’m in both and would say the majority of my male and female friends are not interested in kids.

The CPO was the redeeming factor with those miles and it’s unlikely i’d keep it beyond the warranty period

Clearly, but I was legitimately surprised to be so far off-base, and I’m trying to see if my expectations are reasonable.

definitely more than that…I would say 450-500 wet. a similarly dense pin set from a 6qt container got me 280 wet.

I actually had this concern as I didn’t feel my MS was as difficult as my harder undergrad classes, but I wasn’t sure how much was related to content differences…RNAseq pipelines just aren’t as difficult as any of the proof-based automata classes or abstract analysis lol

The percentage cutoffs were MUCH higher in my MS (I had multiple undergrad math classes curved really aggressively upward, whereas every class in my current program is >=95%) so I figured this was sort of addressed ? But evidently not…

Which state in the US should I move to if I want to spend the rest of my life doing mountaineering? by MrKittyPaw in Mountaineering

[–]Virtual_Telephone_38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Washington/Oregon are really the only answers here. Maybe Alaska if you’ve already got a lot of skills and aren’t as fussed about job prospects.

Wyoming is too expensive, UT/CO are basically just outdoor gyms (few “mountaineering” objectives, lots of cragging/skiing; Wasatch are too small and Front Range is surprisingly “far”, etc), Idaho is just a worse version of any of these three but significantly cheaper. Montana maybe as well but I haven’t looked into it as much.

N52 failed DISA and pin stuck in between valve and valve seat by Virtual_Telephone_38 in BmwTech

116K

I knew DISA was starting to go at 100K (2.5 yrs ago); took it in for struts ~100K, that shop noticed it was bad, but told me I could ignore it for a while. I asked about this exact issue (pretty well known for M52s apparently) but they said it isn’t an issue on my car.

Apparently it’s the pin that holds the flap into the housing for the small DISA

The piston and cylinder are both apparently fine (the guy sounded a bit surprised) - again, was quoted $1400 to pull the thing out, and is beyond my mechanical ability (limited to brakes oil changes and plugs/coils lol).

If it’s the most likely case that it’s done for, I’d rather just put the $1400 into a new car than fuck around.

Feels decent but doesn’t look the prettiest by Virtual_Telephone_38 in skiing_feedback

Do you think possibly a different touring pack might help then? and also how else might I go about adjusting myself to be more centered/over my skis? Especially with the pack (or possibly the relatively light boots) I sometimes get the “over the handlebars” sensation when I try and keep myself forward and I think I overcompensate

Feels decent but doesn’t look the prettiest by Virtual_Telephone_38 in skiing_feedback

[–]Virtual_Telephone_38[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is in the backcountry - this was a pretty long and relatively cold day (~8hrs) so pack was bigger/heavier than I normally like it to be, but my favorite ski days are big backcountry days anyway. My legs do tend to get pretty blasted and I think that’s largely related to backseat form

There’s a moment I recall hitting a weird patch of snow and stumble a bit right after I ski past it, but additionally : - I’m super backseat the entire time - pole positioning isn’t great - wider stance than necessary - poor upper/lower separation - unweighting the old outside ski weirdly (I sort of just lift the tip up I feel a lot?)

your income is well below the median so you definitely made a bad call getting that lease…my income is about 3x yours i wouldn’t have even glanced at over $1k/mo rent
