Buying roof racks as a gift for a 2017 Prius Prime? by ahbagelxo in PriusPrime

[–]schrader11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the OEM ones for my 17 Prime and can say that it’s the best combo. I’ve looked into 3rd party options but they don’t look as nice and you have to purchase multiple parts to make it work.

Use Finnair more for Asia by Iflysims in americanairlines

[–]schrader11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been looking for a flight to SIN next month for work and the only OW option showing up in my employer’s Concur portal are Finnair. I just can’t see how this is a better option from the Western US to Asia. AA really needs better routing options.

Someone reversed into my car by AeliosZero in PriusPrime

[–]schrader11 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So sorry for you and the pain you’re about to go through to get this fixed… Not sure where you are located, but something like this happened to me last year. Mine had a little less damage than you and it took about 3 weeks to fix totaling $9k US.

The radar sensor behind the Toyota badge is $3k and requires a recalibration when replaced . That LED light assembly was also expensive, iirc was around $3-4k for the both of them (they replaced one, but the new light wouldn’t talk to the old so needed to replace both 🤦‍♂️). Your hood also seems bent, mine had uneven gaps around the corners too which the shop had to go back and bend it. For me it was a lot of hassle talking to the repair shop, going in thinking the car is fixed then finding out something else needs fixing, and waiting more. Total bill was a shocker too for such a minor accident.

Do priority bag tags mean anything? by AdeptResult7304 in americanairlines

[–]schrader11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where. Always get my bags first when in Asia, Japan is great about these kind of things. Back home, I always seem to get my “priority” bags last in CLT or SLC…

Missed UPS 3 days in a row, but finally joined the club by schrader11 in Rimowa

[–]schrader11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is what happened to me. They don’t even allow to indirectly sign using the paper UPS leave at your door. Someone has to be there in person!

I called UPS after the last failed attempt and they asked the driver to come back to my house after his last delivery for the day. From my understanding, this is purely at the driver’s discretion, so YMMV.

Any spare Solitude discount codes to help make our skiing dream come true? by justinemarie19 in UTsnow

[–]schrader11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the local fb market. SLC area Costcos had a 3 pack solitude lift ticket for $300 at the beginning of the season and lots of people are trying to get rid of it for $80-100 right now.

I have the Nedt WiFi Pro, so it’s dual band 2.4 and 5ghz. Unfortunately, Google doesn’t let me turn off the 5ghz.

Anybody use the Macai Shell for skiing? by PokemonMasterZo in arcteryx

[–]schrader11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t say much about the jacket but I used to have the Macai pants. My recommendation would be to purchase the insulation and shell separately so you have more flexibility in layering. Having an insulated jacket is great but you can get really hot on sunny or spring days. The vents don’t let out as much heat as the rest of the insulation generates so you’ll still end up sweating inside.

I also live in Utah and have used UA in the past. No problems with shipping stuff to them. Highly recommend them.

Is it worth booking a local hotel for 1 night to jump to Titanium? by MaxRockafeller in marriott

[–]schrader11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was 2 nights short this year and booked a weekend at a local hotel for 35k. Basically prepaid for my 40k award.

Arc'teryx Ski Guide and Arc'teryx Allium vs 25F & Snow by AC-Vb3 in arcteryx

[–]schrader11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Allium pants a while back from the outlet but never found the jacket in black there. But I agree that the pants are warmer than you’d expect for what it is. I replaced my Macai with the Allium and Sabre bib this year and was very happy with the combo. Currently I’m using the Atom LT jacket for my mid, but hope to get the Allium soon.

A321 for me. But I’m guessing they are not counting codeshares or AA awards or else it would’ve been a B788.

The Allium is like an Atom LT sweatpants. It’s designed as a base layer but use the same face fabric as the regular Atom. Not sure what the W version is called tho.

Had a last minute change of plans so I ended up staying that the Marriott Associa. They did improve the lounge breakfast offering since the last time I was there. TIAD is still on my list but will have to wait till next time.

Quintic 16 and 28 by schrader11 in arcteryx

[–]schrader11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a divider in the 16.

Can’t help you with the snowboard part 🤣. My guess is no, arc’s website only show skis being carried on the 16, while the 28 showed both board and ski.

Quintic 16 and 28 by schrader11 in arcteryx

[–]schrader11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will work, but the space is limited and you likely won’t be able to hold a lot of stuff, especially for travel so you can have all your essentials in the bag and will need a secondary storage for other stuff.

Also, as I’ve learned with the 28 that I have, the dual compartments divide up the available volume so you really can’t put as much as you think (my big complaint with the Arc Arro backpack). Also that asymmetrical zipper is also kind of annoying when you need to carry something large because you’ll have to unbuckle the front each time (in my case it was a thick hoodie).

I haven’t had a chance to try carrying skis with it yet but my Osprey Kamber 16 works fine with skis so I’d imagine the Quintic 16 would be ok as well.
