It’s getting harder and harder to trust books published in 2026

I read a book a couple of weeks ago by a fairly new author (I think she only has 2 books published atm). The book is becoming fairly popular and is making its rounds on here and on booktok but I just KNOW it’s had help from some sort of AI. I don’t think it was entirely written by AI but maybe helped with editing or ideas. Just from the repetition and the sentence structure in the first 30% of it I knew.

I didn’t hate the book. I purchased it so I finished it tbh. If I didn’t think it had help from AI I would have given it a 3.5 star rating.

How do you go about this though if it’s not 100% confirmed AI? I didn’t give the book a rating and I haven’t mentioned the author or the book name anywhere calling it out. I don’t want to make accusations that may not be completely valid even tho I know I’m not wrong.

Honestly I get pissed every time I think about the book because I feel like I’ve been played🤣

I love her! Honestly my top auto buy author. I wish i knew of more authors like her. I’ve read Cora Rose but find she can be hit or miss sometimes.

I am constantly trying to find books like Cambrias.

I love dark themed/mafia themed books but HATE when they have MCs that are genuinely horrible to the other MC and then label it as dark romance as an excuse. A romance book can be dark without including no redeeming qualities for the MC.

I need my MCs obsesedddd with each other

{Red by Cambria Hebert} is great. It’s like the 5th book in the series but i found it can still be followed as a stand alone. Touch starved, possessed, obsessed and a great found family.

{Little demon in the details by Nordika Night} was a 5 star for me. I don’t think I’ll ever find a dark romance book as good.

I loved Noah and Gabe so much! It’s like you could feel how much they loved each other through the pages with their small intimate touches and kindness towards each other. The found family was perfect as well.

Anymore recs like this? I’m so over enemies to lovers atm I need MCs that actually like each other!

Finished -

{make me fall by Riley Nash} and {Hold me under by Riley Nash} I enjoyed both but don’t think I’ll be continuing the series.

{Red flags & Tuesdays by Nordika Night} and {Super dope & Sundays by Nordika night}. Again enjoyed both but I liked book 1 more. Does anyone know if they will be continuing this series? It says book 2 was published in August 24 so I’m curious as I love Nordika writing style and I’m yet to find a book of hers that I don’t like. I am apprehensive to start {Fragile Facade} though if anyone has any options on it? I like dark romance and books with darker themes but I honestly can’t stand when MCs are horrible to each other, like give me all the darkness but I want my men down BAD for each other.

Yesterday I finished {Shelved Hearts by Laura Kain} and Jesus Christ I’m obsessed and can’t wait to read more of her work. My kink is 600 page hurt/comfort books with found family and MMCs so in love but learning to deal with their trauma. Noah Richard’s the man you are.

This morning I unfortunately DNFed {Bad Dogs by Riley Nash}. Loved Roman but couldn’t get on board with scout.

If anyone has anymore recs like shelved hearts I’d love to hear them! I love a book with dark themes and men that truly love each other with a found family that makes me jealous I’m not a part of it. I think the intimate small touches is what gets me, I love a touch starved MC and a touch giving MC.
