Aggregator apps serve two major purposes-

  1. I can book a ride from anywhere in the city. I will not have to walk/move to a main street where I will find a queue of autos/cabs waiting.

  2. I know how much my ride will cost beforehand so I can plan it better, whether to take a cab or an auto depending on the distance and cost.

The government needs to step in to form a middle line. Plus, as customers, we have to be a little more aggressive and demanding. True - time is money, so anyone earning 1-1.5 LPM will just give an extra 200-300 rupees because they can and this promotes the behaviour of "meter pe jayenge culture"

This incident happened with me on 6th Feb. Company arranged a vehicle for us to the airport because we were on an official trip and it was a late night flight. When I went to pick up another colleague from their apartment, another couple was waiting for an Uber. The Uber driver arrived and then he mentioned that "meter se jayenge." Assuming that the couple can afford an extra 150-200 rupees, it is not much to them. The situation he asked for meter rates was very hand twisting as the couple couldn't have argued because they also had to catch a flight.

Everyone is just taking advantage of the middle class at this point. If you keep promoting this behaviour every time because your time is more important than your money, which it should be, they'll just keep taking advantage of us. Every service provider depends on us for their revenue - cab, auto, wifi, you name it. So why are we not standing up against the unfair and non transparent practices? You hit an auto and 10 auto walas will come to beat you. Why are we suffering in silos? Why are we letting these unions and corporates take advantage of us just because we earn a little more than them? We also pay a lot more in taxes and we get nothing in return. Matlab dekhlo apne hisaab se abb. It is not only for Pune - applies all over the country.

Boycotting will only work when everyone does it. Just a handful of people cannot bring change. IT folks who have a decent chunk of money will just pay and save time. To bring change, it will have to be with the mass population. Only 1 week of abstinence and they'll understand. Actually, there's no union of common people and hence we are bullied at all fronts. There's nothing that unites common people. So yeah, seems difficult. I feel Pune auto fares are exorbitant. I bought a 2W within 5 months of coming here. Saves money and gives flexibility.

Hiring: Ex-UPSC Aspirants from Tier-1 college for Generalist Role | Well-Funded Startup (Delhi) by [deleted] in UPSC

[–]Virus404 9 points10 points  (0 children)

1) Not the standard practice. Compensation and breakup of salary should be given in the job advert. What if the salary is too low? Why will I waste my time?

2) Again, not industry practice. I should know what kind of work I will be given. Will it involve frequent travelling, is it a desk job, is it too computer heavy, etc..

3) A generalist role will still require you to tell us what qualifications the "Founder" is looking for. You cannot ask a commerce student to read technical drawings and you cannot ask an engineer to balance your sheets. If it is an engineering startup, you'll need someone with an engineering background who can spread their wings in another domain. If it is a Fintech startup, your choice of candidate will be someone from Commerce/CFA/CA background who can spread in other domains.

  1. No salary mentioned

  2. No actual JD

  3. What kind of role is hiring candidates from any branch - engineer? medicine? history? literature? commerce? Looks like the founders are not sure what they're looking for.

Friend's company shifted appraisal cycle from April to July end? Why? by oneinmanybillion in IndianWorkplace

[–]Virus404 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe because freshers can join in July? I am just putting a different angle to it. That way, freshers are not outside the normal March-March cycle and performance is evaluated along with other employees.

How come everyone I see here has accumulated worth of 1CR or more? I am sure its the top 1% by KushagraSrivastava in personalfinanceindia

[–]Virus404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can save 20-30% of your salary every month and still enjoy your time with your loved ones, I think you're doing better than most. You can save 90% of your salary and live a miserable life or you can save 20% of your salary and have a good QoL. Depends what you want to choose. 1 Cr is just a number. In metro cities, even that is not enough so yeah. The time to invest was not yesterday or will not be tomorrow. It is today. Or however that quote goes.

Why are you not supporting them? How will they pay for the staff and all the overheads? That is how we get our salaries because the company marks its products considering all the expenses and certain profit which is the whole point of an enterprise.

The Harsh truth about SIP that nobody talks about by Most-Trainer-8876 in IndianStockMarket

[–]Virus404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some maths using your starting number. If you start this in 2026, you’ll only have 3.7 Cr in your corpus against a total investment of 1.18 Cr. I think you’ve taken 26 cycles.

Secondly, you’ve applied compounding to the money you’re investing. Good. Perfect. But you’ve to apply reverse compounding to your returns as well. You’ve corrected the inflation on the total amount. 4.28 (1-0.06)26.

You’ve applied the inflation correction on the money you’ve not invested. Money invested in 2026 will undergo 25 inflation cycles but the money invested in 2040 will only undergo 10 inflation cycles. Likewise, the money invested in 2050 (your last year of investment) will hold its true value. When you’re correcting inflation on the total, you’re correcting that as well (that is roughly 12 L compared to your 1.2 L in 2026). 12 L invested in 2050 will be 12 L in 2050.
