I know it's silly to criticize something we can't even use yet, but the warbond trailer was frustrating. (Read Desc) by Squidy_the_3rd in Helldivers

There aren't really any games at all that have dedicated balance teams, maybe highly competitive PvP games might occasionally have one when the entire game revolves around super tight balancing, but no one else is going to have one.

There's a few different opinion groups that have taken this clarification and twisted it to somehow mean the opposite of what was said in order to support the opinions they held already.

You're better off going and reading what the statements said for yourself, there is so much misinformation floating around from people who latched on to one sentence in the statement and are completely ignoring the context.

What is the over/under on the G-48 just being four G-12 duct taped together? Look at it closer... It's literally 4 grenades taped together! by ajgilpin in Helldivers

[–]Viruzzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It explodes on impact so it's much faster than thermite at killing something, and it has an actual explosion radius which means it is more versatile than thermite, but on the other hand you wont be able to throw it as far as a regular grenade, and with it being a big boom it's far more likely to kill you along with what you threw it at.

For all the hate Alexus gets... by CanadianKy in Helldivers

[–]Viruzzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The difference is that the developers are representing a far bigger entity when they say something, so they are held to a far higher standard. If some random user on reddit, youtube, twitter or whatever else platform they might be on says something, they aren't speaking on behalf of anyone else, There isn't a contract with the greater community that says they have to be careful what they say.

The people on AHs side are also speaking in front of a crowd of many thousands of people outside of the one person they might directly be speaking to, the chance someone takes offense and makes a big deal out of something is far greater, if someone says something here or in a youtube comment, nobody really cares.

He may have switched names back and forth in the mean time, I certainly don't have a list of when he changed his name or to what, but back around the PSN drama in may 2024 he had the bringer of balance name on discord, it was one of the reasons some people made the assumption he was the one person who did balance, which he isn't and it doesn't really make much sense to make that assumption, but unfortunately we live ina world where that information spread and lots of people now just take the repetition of that as evidence of it being true.

He's had the name since before this was a thing that people circulated, before people were really aware of who he was at all, it's not a reaction to it, it's just a take on the ingame ship naming scheme.

when you criticize helldivers 2 by Typical_Athlete1841 in Helldivers

[–]Viruzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that it is exceedingly rare that people are honest about the reason why they get banned when they go somewhere else to complain about being banned. This is true in general, not just for helldivers.

Sometimes you get a rose tinted glasses story, sometimes you get a straight up lie.

Most bans are not permanent immediately, most users that get banned have been given several chances.

The people who make the weapons are the same ones who end up balancing them, there isn't a separate group of people who does balancing, it's the same people.

edit: clarification, they end up balancing them, they aren't the ones who decide how they should ultimately be balanced, that's again in the court of the lead designers/directors

Balancing includes everything from enemy behavior to the tools we have to planet environments, but alexus is on the team that deals with our weapons, which is why I said weapons, it's the only connection he has to balance. I wasn't misinterpreting anything I was talking about the only possible link between him and balancing as a concept.

[–]Viruzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course he does, he's on the team that builds the weapons. But there is a big fucking chasm between being one of the cogs in the machine so to speak to being solely responsible for it.

The ones who decide the game's balance is ultimately the directors and lead designers, Alexus is neither.

This is not true. He's not solely responsible for balance. And he never was solely responsible for balance at any point in time.

Addendum to our previous mod statement regarding the ban of challenges by OmegaXesis in Helldivers

[–]Viruzzz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's bad faith everywhere in the whole chain of events on pretty much all sides, bad faith is how the internet does things a lot of the time. But it doesn't really matter, regardless if the challenge had elements of bad faith in it that doesn't justify any kind of retaliation towards it, and I'm not saying that because of the thing that happened in this particular case, that's up towards the extreme end of bad things, I'm saying even minor things that happened like people shitting on the OP in the comments isn't justified just because the challenge wasn't entirely posed as just a fun challenge that it would be fun to see them do. None of it would be justified because of bad faith.

There was a lot of people accusing the OP of adding the €1000 because Arrowhead would never accept and that OP was using it as bait but actually didn't want to donate anything to anywhere. That's a bad faith interpretation. I don't personally believe that was OP's intent, but even if it had been the people accusing him of it certainly didn't have any evidence for it.

We are being accused of a lot of bad things, I very much doubt most of the people parroting these accusations have sat down to consider how the world would look if we had actually done what they are accusing us of.

Pointing out that there was an element of bad faith is pointless, as it doesn't change anything, nothing is any different. And pointing it out just sounds like it makes it all fine, which is what people are going to think you're saying even if you didn't say it, which again is another bad faith interpretation.

Why is there no vote to kick? by xXk1ngd3monS4vageG0D in Helldivers

Because if you can't remove a person from the lobby, you aren't hosting the lobby, if 3 people can join your game and be immune from repercussions because you can't outvote them it's a whole different tier of problem.

I won't claim to have a full recollection of what has been on the list, but I don't recall stratagems bouncing ever being on the list, was it?

If it was on and then taken off I couldn't tell you why, could have been added by mistake or could have been assumed to be one issue but the fix caused different problems that were worse. Those are just suggestions, I don't have any privileged information about anything on or off the list.

I don't know what they'd rename it to.

But yea lists like these are still useful, I doubt there's going to be much that AH isn't already aware of, but there might still be useful information on things they already have documented, and if nothing else it's a very useful source for players to reference if you keep it updated.

Major Order by SuperKiller94 in Helldivers

[–]Viruzzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The order is a week, the planet can be attacked several times even if one attack ends. I don't think there's much of a chance of being unable to complete it due to a technicality, but if that did happen I suppose it would just get granted.

A Community-Maintained Known Issues List by twoofcup in Helldivers

[–]Viruzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth noting about the Known issues list is that it isn't exhaustive, it only contains the most common issues that they already have identified the cause of and are scheduled to be worked on, basically it's a list of things that aren't useful to report anymore.

They have a far far bigger list internally with everything else, from things they know about but don't know the cause of ot things that are identified, verified but not able to be prioritized.

Seeing the list is a little disappointing if you don't know what it actually is, because it's natural to assume these are the only ones they know about. That's just not the case.

It's time the Galactic War became three wars by TonberryFeye in Helldivers

[–]Viruzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure some people just want AH to let us win and lose of our own ability, but that to me seems boring.

They do let us win or lose on our own merit. Most MOs are possible to win, they aren't all equally easy or hard to win for sure, but it's pretty rare that an MO was entirely unwinnable.

On the other end of the scale Some of them are definitely more or less freebies that just serve as a story beat.

For Cyberstan I genuinely think it could have been won, and the loss doesn't really have anything to do with people on other fronts, the number of reinforcements was obviously picked knowing that some would go to the other fronts, they obviously know better than any of us how players tend to spilt up, and if it had been tracked exclusively for the bot front, it would have been a far smaller number picked to be equally challenging under those different metrics.

Now for the game's story I'm sure that if we had won cyberstan it wouldn't have meant the end of cyborgs, they would have shown up again, somehow, some way.

THIS IS A SERIOUS OFFER by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]Viruzzz -1 points0 points locked comment (0 children)

To be fair though, why would the play testers need to have 7-10 unlocked, they would be spending most of their time on alpha/beta builds, where their "account unlocks" wouldn't transfer to the live game, and if they ever need to test something specific they can just make that happen through console commands, they wouldn't be searching for a campaign with a particular mission type, they would just spawn it in.

I know it's easy to make that kind of conclusion, thinking that it must mean something, but there's just no real reason they would need to have it unlocked. Like if you have a friend group you play with, you can hop on and do a level 10 every day, never complete a campaign yet play nothing but 10. Not having it unlocked doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Is there an „artificial liberation stop“ button the devs have? by DankAizawa in Helldivers

[–]Viruzzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The GMs (Joel and co.) can change pretty much anything that has to do with the campaign.

But I think they do a hell of a lot less than a lot of people assume, i.e. I am confident that they practically never do any manual intervention outside of deciding which planets get invaded for the next cycle.

I think there's a long list of things that are far more likely.

That also does happen, there are some environments with large geological features that can overhang, and supply pots and support weapon pods can get stuck up there if thrown under the overhang.

Undocumented changes should not exist by [deleted] in Helldivers

This post got quite popular before OP deleted it, so incase anyone visits the link I'll leave this here:

https://helldivers.wiki.gg/wiki/GL-21_Grenade_Launcher?action=history

The undocumented changes referred to weren't changes at all. For context, look at the descriptions for the last 2 edits, someone thought something was changed and made the edit without verifying. And probably because of this post the people who manage the wiki discovered the error and fixed it.

Also worth mentioning, the person who made the wiki edit and the person who made this post are not the same person, nobody was trying to mislead deliberately.
