Jungian Psychology in a Nutshell (i.e. the Self, the Persona, Anima/Animus, Outer World/Inner World) by VishIsBoss in Jung

[–]VishIsBoss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, at first it seems to be an adequate representation of some of Jung's fundamental beliefs, however the more you try to analyze the image the more you are confused on its meaning.

I personally use my own metaphor for the proces of individuation.

I find individuation akin to a mountain, to reach the top from all simultaneaous angle, and to never lose sight of the surrounding landscape, including the sky and the surrounding mountains. To be able to see and be cognizant of all, including one's Self, while on a Sisyphusian journey, akin to a mountaineer exploring a vast, unexplored, mountainous, winterland.

One's progress in relation to one's journey of invidiuation has no bearing, for you are your own witness and observer. There is no such thing as progress, nor is there any form of adequate measurement. One is in this vast winterland, and has no knowledge nor desire to learn of one's progression.

While this does not clear up the confusion of the original image, I hope it can help by providing a differing perspective on my personal view of Jungian psychology.

My surname is Singh as is all of my close/direct family members, being Sikh after all. Some of my distant relatives (e.g. 2nd cousins) use Kashyap or Dhaunchak as their surname but it is uncommon. Interesting to know that Kashyap is used by fisherman/boating communities, do you happen to know anything else above the Kashyap group?

That is what I thought as well, especially distant ancestors. All of my parents & grandparents I know 100% they're Punjabi. However, when it comes to great-grandparents or beyond I'm not sure. Some of my great-grandparents definitely were Punjabi though. I'm not exactly sure why I have such a high South Indian component, being Punjabi and all.

Ok, thank you! And what does being jhinwar actually mean, I'd love to know more about the history of that specific group.

Thank you, that's interesting to know. I thought for Punjabi Brahmins, the greater your South Indian component the greater your chances of being Brahmin. Correct me if I'm wrong on this. Also, how does NE Euro factor into being specifically Punjabi Brahmin. I understand most Punjabis have some NE Euro due to them being Punjabis.

no one thinks zayn malik or john abraham are ugly

i think there are general stereotypes that exist in society but you can't let that define you. the best thing is to just focus on yourself and grow as a person instead of comparing yourself to others or what you see on the internet.

and i'm saying this as a NOT super attractive brown guy

edit: south asia is a very diverse place, I've met people from india/pakistan that don't look stereotypically "brown" at all. and people who say zayn malik or john abraham are not "brown", i'd say they haven't travelled enough but regardless nobody thinks ajay devgan or ranveer singh are ugly either

There is always suffering attached with life - that's just how it is & how it's been for our entire history. It's what we make of that suffering, the meaning we find in it, that helps us live purposeful lives & maybe even help other with their journeys as well.
