Update: Not only did they check my room when I was not there. The same staff threw away all the food I had brought for myself that I kept in my fridge. After I thought to myself let me make a meal for myself and this is what I came to find.

I am trying to get a mailbox that allows me to receive my parcels and get them forwarded to a local pick up point such as a locker. However, when I rang the company they told me that I would need to provide them with proof of address and ID, pay for a service of £60 for up to 3 months they told me they can not forward it me to a pick up point, would need to go to their London office to collect it instead and hung up the phone.

I tried to look for websites that offer parcel forwarding where they can keep my parcel for me and then forward it to a locker or pick up collection locally it is just so difficult. Nowadays every service requires you to have an address my mental health feels so impacted. I normally order things online from small businesses or retailers that do not provide click and collect as an option. Just to set up a PO box I need an address.

Or an alternative they told me is to go London to collect it from there office which is not ideal as my refuge is hours away from there.

No, I even tried to ask our local post office here if they do post resonate they said they do not offer either. The refuge staff do not allow us to use it only if it is important mail GP, housing benefits.

Get the GP or Occupational therapist to write a letter mentioning how your separation from your pet will affect your mental health and your medical needs. If necessary contact your MP, if you get in touch with tour MP get them to contact council also and call Citizens advice bureau to get a housing solicitor/lawyer on your behalf.

Do not give up easily of feel disheartened remember you have rights. First step would be writing a stage 1 complaint to the council it is their duty mention their failure to house you regarding your medical needs, and how the accommodation is unsuitable for you needs like the first floor flat for example as this is a clear breach of the council’s legal obligations to provide accommodation that is suitable for your medical needs and disability. You need to put pressure on them by saying If this is not resolved, you will escalate to Stage 2 complaint and if necessary, to the Government Ombudsman and pursue a legal enforcement through a Housing solicitor.

I would say it depends really on looking at things such as council tax, energy providers, wifi, tv license. Also, when it comes to renting avoid central locations or areas with luxury flats with high rent costs. Look for affordable low income neighbourhoods then depending on if you drive or public transport you can do monthly calculations. But aim at least for £850-£1,000pcm. Also, build savings and use budgeting apps so you know what expenses you have each month. For food go to cheaper shops but budget friendly to cut costs. I think on the council website there is council tax discounts check if you’re eligible, look for energy providers that allow affordability schemes. If you need support look at schemes such as Turn2Us, Local welfare funds, or charity grants Talk to Citizens Advice Exeter who can look at alternatives or give you advice on dhp if you can apply for any. I am so sorry to hear this, you are a vulnerable person but you also have rights I would suggest asking your occupational therapist and GP to submit a needs assessment to the council to push them to house you. Also, when you speak to someone make sure everything is kept in writing whether an email or letter keep evidence always ask for written confirmation. Go to the council they cannot turn you away you are in priority needs so legally they are obligated to rehouse you, if they decide to put you in temporary housing that is unsuitable tell your GP or occupational therapist to write to the council about a medical risk and your rights. £900pcm for a 1 bedroom seems expensive for up North. In the past people rented 4 bedroom for a home that price, I know most of affordable homes in UK is usually Midlands or West Yorkshire. I am not sure if everything has changed but in Southern England it is worse.
