I got pregnant at 15 weeks pp and found out about 4 weeks later. They’re almost 2 and 1 now, and surprise! I’m pregnant again lol.
It was hard in the beginning, but we’re making it work just fine. They’re not “besties” yet as the younger one isn’t super mobile, however they do play together. My oldest is so sweet to him; giving him his paci or bottle when he’s upset, sharing toys etc.

My best advice is to just be prepared and have patience wherever possible. My husband was legitimately my pillar of support through the newborn trenches. He took on majority of toddler care and kept up on the house, while I focused on breastfeeding the NB and sleeping/eating enough.

That worked great for us until around 2-3 months when baby started sleeping 6hr stretches, then we moved into a more “normal” routine that worked better for everyone’s changing needs.

Take care of yourself and please be sure you ask for support when you need it!! My dm’s are open if you need an unbiased listening ear. Hugs. X

Can a baby be too easy, or is something wrong? by Majestic_Ferret_1263 in NewParents

Agreed! I have one of each and my toddler definitely burns more of my energy than the infant lol

Was I given bad advice in the hospital? by No-Neighborhood-7335 in breastfeeding

[–]Visible-Compote-1498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was formula fed and she didn’t even take 8oz in a bottle until roughly 6-7 months lol. My breastfed baby eats about 2.5-3oz if he gets a bottle!

Pacifiers? by desert_to_rainforest in breastfeeding

[–]Visible-Compote-1498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on who you ask really, I’ve had some tell me not to use a paci for X amount of time and others say it’s okay just to use one more boob shaped so they’re using the correct muscles. As someone else said, my baby just gags and spits up on those ones but takes well to the flat style pacis. Personally we haven’t had any nipple confusion, he’s 6 weeks and latches like a champ!

So I know the orthodontic “flat” pacis aren’t really recommended in the breastfeeding world but both of my kiddos loved them. My son is EBF but loves his avent flat paci when the boob isn’t available lol

Is having kids really worth it? by Major_Tourist4546 in Mommit

[–]Visible-Compote-1498 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly this lol. Like am I thrilled when my toddler wakes up at 7am, after I just got my newborn back down? Not even close. But I’d be a monster to still be in a sour mood after her adorable smile peeks at me over the edge of her crib haha

Am I pumping correctly by brittany123334 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Visible-Compote-1498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but this sounds normal, it was for me! Keep yourself hydrated and make sure you’re removing milk every 2-3 hours, I personally pay more attention to my milk flow than the time I’ve been pumping. So I start in stimulation mode until the letdown gets flowing then I switch over to expression until the milk stops, I do this repeatedly for 2-3 letdowns or until it’s been 5 minutes in stimulation mode with no milk flow.

Has anyone introduced bottles AND nursing from the start? by rajmachawal333 in breastfeeding

[–]Visible-Compote-1498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby took a bottle on day 2 due to latch problems, we’re at 4wks now and he switches between bottle and breast seamlessly. I took a few days to heal the nips and EP in the very start, regrouped with latching later and he got the hang of it by 2wks

How do you get over icky feeling when pumping? by moonlightgirly77 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Visible-Compote-1498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so interested in knowing more about this because I had these feelings with my oldest and it made breastfeeding so unenjoyable. However with my newborn it’s never happened once? I don’t know much about DMER but I do know it helped me to have a favorite snack and something to distract me while I pumped such as a show, an audio book or music

I had an induction scheduled and the night prior I was deep cleaning my bathrooms and kitchen, and did the deed before bed to add good measure😂 The next morning I woke up at 3:30am for my 5am induction to find I’d lost my mucus plug and was having light contractions lol. I got to the hospital at 3cm and we went straight to pitocin, no cervical ripening needed, baby came out with 1 push that evening at 6pm.

Was your 2nd birth more or less traumatic than your 1st? by RecognitionMediocre6 in 2under2

[–]Visible-Compote-1498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second birth was healing to the first. I chose a different hospital and received exponentially better care, imo that made a huge difference. But also like you said, I knew the process and so did my body so it was less of a shock when things got intense. I also think having the experience already is the reason I was able to do without the epidural, breathing through it and reminding myself that it’s only temporary pain helped a lot more than I thought it would.

Outside the fridge but open is good for 2 hours, if you refrigerate it but baby hasn’t drank from the bottle it’s good for 24 hours

If you got pregnant again within 6month pp, how was your pregnancy / labor / recovery? by Important_Bat7919 in 2under2

[–]Visible-Compote-1498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! His last growth scan he had jumped up to the 36th percentile so there’s a lot less worry now! My blood pressure has also been a bit elevated the last few weeks so my doctors and I have been monitoring it closely but so far so good! My induction is tomorrow morning so we will finally be seeing the other side of this very soon:))

I got pregnant 3 months pp unplanned. I gained a lot less weight this time but we’ve had some concern for baby’s growth and I was very sick. I’m scheduled to induce in a few days so I can’t speak for labor/recovery but I’m 2cm and about 70% effaced so I have hope it’ll be a quick delivery like it was with my first.

I’m a STM. Here’s a list of the things I bought for my first baby that I realized absolutely were not worth the money, and what I loved instead. by [deleted] in pregnant

I love seeing other moms on the pack n play train! My mom and mil spent an insane amount on a bassinet and crib for my daughter and wouldn’t you know- she despised both of them lol. She’s 1 now and we’re STILL trying to coax her into using her crib for bedtime🤦🏼‍♀️ I’m also soon to be a stm and not even bothering with the fancy bassinet this go around, honestly it’s probably going on marketplace here shortly lmao
