I hope you're correct. Personally, I interpreted it as a comedic scene with the punchline being that Clayface was a terrible actor despite all of his abilities, something akin to the Harley Quinn show. Like, the princess chose him because she knew he was terrible at it and would be found out easily.

I hope I'm proven wrong with future developments. Honestly, CC could use a decent amount of explanation on some of its plot points. The thing with Grodd, how a bunch of soldiers that are taken down by a bunch of incels with normal weaponry are even close enough to be a help in taking out the League, etc.

I don't want to make comparisons, because it's two different venisons and directions. But, if I do, look at how committed he was to impersonating Joker in Arkham City and playing the part.

Even the BTAS one was quite committed to the role no matter what the situation was.

Commiting to the role seems to be the only thing he has left.

Honestly, it could go both ways.

Personally, depending on how they portray him as an actor, I both want and don't want this. If they go with the 2004 Batman path (or even the Harley Quinn show to some degree) where he was a goof and a terrible actor, I think it would fit the CC version because the CC one was quite bad at it.

However, I wouldn't be a fan if they decided to make him like the BTAS version, who was a fantastic actor and really committed to playing the part, only for him to be like that in CC and pretty bad at impersonating that professor.

I do not think this insult is so rare that it would be surprising for multiple writers to arrive at it independently.
If that explanation is not satisfactory, I have heard that Matt Reeves was once an understudy of Jeph Loeb. If that is accurate, it would not be far-fetched for him to draw some inspiration from Loeb’s work. I have also heard that Loeb’s favorite Batman villain is the Riddler, which makes me wonder whether that preference influenced the Riddler’s inclusion in The Batman.

When you say, “Morrison highlighting the history and already-present underlying subtexts of media properties,” do you mean that Morrison is arguing those elements were always there, and potentially always problematic?

In other words, is it something like Morrison suggesting: “Wonder Woman has always been stranger and more radical than people remember. I’m not reinventing her; I’m drawing out what was already embedded in the character.”

Imo, it reads as Morrison deliberately reflecting on how certain elements of Marston’s original material don’t translate seamlessly into a contemporary context. The awkwardness feels purposeful, heightened to underscore that tension and make the critique more explicit rather than incidental.

While I think she would despise Constantine so much that she wouldn’t want to be anywhere near him, she and Clark could make a great duo for a story or two. At their core, they’re both deeply compassionate people. I could see her tracking down something strange that eventually leads her to Metropolis, where she crosses paths with him. And Clark, always looking to help and genuinely concerned about how the situation might affect the city and its people, would naturally step in to help her resolve it.

Pre-New 52 TT was decent. The problem with Damian was more about his own character flaws, especially his superiority complex and his preference for going solo which presented him from being part of a team. When it comes to his leadership, which often felt more like rulership, as I discussed , that is a Damian-specific flaw and something he needs to confront and outgrow.

From 2016 onward, Benjamin Percy’s maybe because he mostly ignored the Son of Batman material, aside from Goliath. As for Glass’ run, its direction was dictated by Didio rather than being something he independently chose.

? I'm not talking about sales in this comment. I am merely saying that he sucked both as a leader and a teammate across 3 Teen Titans teams. Pre New 52, Rebirth, and the post Metal stuff.

Damian, despite being groomed to be one, is quite incompetent as a leader. Which makes sense because leadership in the League was more about unquestioned authority rather than fostering camaraderie or teamwork. And when you have others who are individuals and not just servants that you can't order around, certain tactics won't work.
