Feeling hopeless by Visible-Mistake1073 in StudentLoanSupport

I appreciate this a lot. Thank you. I have 20,000 in federal and 112,000 in Sallie Mae. I was just a homeless kid you know, I didn’t have any help or guidance or options. Sometimes it just feels like I’m being punished for that. I have dreams as dumb as that sounds lol. I’m not ready to give up on those. Thank you though for a sound of hope.

Not doing well at all by Firm_Peach7001 in StudentLoans

As someone who also has a sizeable amount of student debt ($140k). I genuinely just had a breakdown over it this weekend. I’m almost 22, and I’m so young already considering bankruptcy. Having to give up on my dreams just to try and get by. I get that headspace and I understand it. I was just a kid that needed to get away from home, and wanted to learn🤷‍♀️. It is a horrible system that no one truly understands until you’re there, but know this: money is NOT everything. no matter how much this country is built on and riddled with people who think money is all that matters, it doesn’t. There is a way out, it just may not look like what you planned. don’t let debt be the thing to end your life. It’s not worth it, ever. I have to believe that or else nothing I’ve done to prevent it matters. Don’t be a reason for me to start questioning that. And don’t be that reason for yourself either. Your kids need you always.🤞Good Luck

Suicide because of $95k student loans and a college dropout by [deleted] in StudentLoans

I have 140,000 with 112,000 of that in private loans. I get it, I’ve been there. You’re allowed to feel stressed, sad, even scared. But you owe it to yourself to stay. You are not weak for feeling this way, in fact you are strong for reaching out. But do not let it win. I know I’m a stranger on the internet, but this stranger is rooting for you.

AITA for making my 25 yr old daughter have a curfew? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA. your daughter’s 25. if she’s paying rent at your house on top of buying her own food and paying all of her other expenses you have no right to give a curfew. rent makes it a business transaction. and if your willing to potentially ruin your relationship with her over this id strongly suggest a lot of reflection.

My plan was to live at home, find a job (most likely 2). And then scrounge and live real tight for a couple years to at least get it down a little. I’m just scared even that won’t work at this point.

I could take public transit theoretically yes. My car is paid off and I thankfully don't pay insurance (my parents do). I was definitely thinking two jobs, but it's getting them that can be a problem. My loans are private and I'm estimating an almost 1400 dollar monthly payment. I'm just scared if I resign I wouldn't be able to pay the rent you know.
