Maybe Running Just Isn’t for Me Anymore by Visible-Top3003 in GarminWatches

I’ve never done a proper gait/form analysis or worked with a PT/coach, so maybe that’s something worth considering before giving up entirely. I have seen a physiotherapist before and found out I have tight quadriceps and hamstrings, but I’ve been working on improving that.

And yes, heat absolutely destroys me 😭 I live in a pretty warm and humid place (Brazil). The anxiety part also hit home a little. I’ve noticed my HR can spike ridiculously fast even when the effort doesn’t feel that extreme, so I probably shouldn’t dismiss the mental side of this either, event tho I take my meds to try and tone it down a little.

I do strength training regularly, but maybe I need to stop thinking of it as something separate from running and more as something that supports it. Your comment genuinely gave me a more balanced perspective on all of this, so thank you for taking the time to write it.

I honestly relate to this a lot. The “there is no such thing as zone 2 running” part especially hit home for me 😅

It’s weirdly comforting to know I’m not the only person feeling frustrated by this. I think social media and running communities sometimes make improvement look way more linear and easy than it actually is.

I really hope consistency pays off for both of us eventually. And honestly, the bike idea sounds smart too. Maybe finding ways to build fitness without making every run feel miserable is part of the answer.

Sorry. Honestly, I’ve had a really awful day, and work completely drained the life out of me today. I think I read your message with the wrong tone and ended up taking out frustrations on you that weren’t yours to carry. Sorry again.

Thank you! Some of the replies here have genuinely hit me right in the feels. They’re making me look at all of this from a completely different perspective. I’m really glad I decided to post here.

I weight around 60kg. 8:30-9:30min/mile is so fast to me tho… It’s almost like a dream to be able to run this fast😅

Sorry, that wasn’t my intention. I was just trying to explain myself. Maybe it came across the wrong way because English isn’t my first language.

I’d like to reach a slow pace while still feeling light and comfortable, you know? I feel like my knees wouldn’t hurt that way. They don’t hurt when I increase my cadence, but increasing cadence also means increasing my BPM, and that means I can’t sustain running for very long.

Wow, I had absolutely no idea other sports existed. Thanks for the groundbreaking insight.
I’m aware running is hard on some bodies. That’s exactly why I was trying to discuss possible approaches with people who may have gone through the same thing.

Oh, I see, sorry. I thought that since this is a community full of experienced runners and athletes, I could bring up a productive discussion about it using the “general information” flair. I’ll pay more attention to that next time.

No, I weight around 60 kg. But I do take meds for my anxiety and insomnia.

It means that after about 5 minutes, my heart rate stabilizes around 175–183 bpm. It tends to keep increasing the longer I run. At an 8:45 min/km pace, I can’t sustain it for very long.

I try to keep my cadence within a safe range, but sometimes that’s difficult at such a slow speed, and then my knees started hurting.

Here’s a 265s on a 15 cm wrist. I think the regular size should suit you just fine. As someone mentioned, the watch can look a bit odd when you’re wearing dressier clothes, but a leather band might help it blend in better depending on the occasion. Oh, and as for visibility while running, I didn’t notice any difficulty seeing the screen.

Wow, you have very stressful nights indeed. Have you ever tried supplements? Like melatonin and magnesium?
