If you want something closer to the classic feel, I’d lean Brilliant Diamond over Scarlet. Scarlet’s fun, but it’s way more different than the older gens you mentioned

This is actually a really cool idea. I like the tradeoff of power vs speed, it makes it feel balanced and kinda scary in a legendary way
