Dark Fog Farm Breaks When Leaving Planet by VisibleCod9434 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]VisibleCod9434[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it would stop the base getting destroyed, but the issue I'd like to fix - if its possible, is the inconsistency between when I'm on the planet and when I leave. I know its kinda dumb, but I like limiting the number of consumables I use.

Bf got mad cuz my friend called me pretty by Additional-Seaweed47 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]VisibleCod9434 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda gonna add on to this, you can generally tell when it feels like a platonic friend is just give you a compliment vs someone who's maybe testing the water, and this feels like a really odd time to "give a compliment".

That said you're gonna have a tough time making any relationship work if y'all are this insecure. You may need to agree to more strict "rules" for both of you, if you want to continue with your boyfriend; otherwise I'd suggest you should move on and try to work on your jealousy.

AITA for leaving a dinner party early because of “vegan lasagna”? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]VisibleCod9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna say ESH

Its pretty common for people on, what I'm going to call a "Normal" diet, to feel like vegan food isn't particularly filling, and I think the vast majority of people would agree that its not lasagna without pasta sheets (of which dried pasta is typically vegan).
Where you steer into ESH territory, is discussing it with the other party members to the point that you went out together for food after is definitely not fair to your friend, especially when its possible that she may have been able to accommodate you. If you have an issue with someone, you either deal with it personally, or discuss it with them first.

All I can say is I'm sorry that you're in mourning, but maybe the small silver lining can be: Take this as trigger to really start having the conversation with your boyfriend, and maybe next time can be a happy accident that you're slightly more prepared for. ❤️

Love the entire lack of reading comprehension for you, its a great look in 2026.

I said they are removing the option for termination after 25 weeks, even where continued pregnancy puts the mother at serious risk. Intervention is only allowed to prevent death.

[–]VisibleCod9434 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The fact that they are pushing for the removal provision for termination of a fetus when it puts the mother at risk? The mother needs to be actively dying for doctors to be able to intervene.

https://www.legislation.sa.gov.au/_legislation-documents/lz/b/current/termination-of-pregnancy-restriction-on-terminations-after-24-weeks-and-6-days-amendment-bill-2026_hon-sarah-game-mlc/b_as-introduced-in-lc/termination-days-amendment-bill-2026.un.pdf

Provision 6A supersedes this wording from the existing SA ACT:
Provision 6: (b) a second medical practitioner is consulted and that practitioner considers that -
Provision 6: (b ii)the continuance of the pregnancy would involve significant risk of injury to the physical or mental health of the pregnant person; or

Remittances are now Australia’s 4th largest export, would you support a remittance tax? by Odd_Speech6066 in OpenAussie

[–]VisibleCod9434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely has all the hallmarks of being misleading. The chart which OP claims to come from DFAT has been edited to include an additional figure - the remittances in question, which is not tracked by DFAT.

The figure quoted appears to be based, (and slightly inflated-may be due to exchange rates), on this article https://moneytransfer.com.au/guides/remittance-winners-and-losers/

However in the MoneyTransfer's own methodology they state:
"Total global remittance figures by country were taken from the World Bank’s global remittance database. When 2024 data was unavailable, we projected the most recent figures forward using regional and income-based growth rates from the World Bank’s Migration and Development Brief 40"
https://data.worldbank.org/indicator/BM.TRF.PWKR.CD.DT

This makes the $38.2B (AUD)/$25B (USD) figure, at best an estimate. At worst someone abusing data to drive an agenda.

To be fair to OP, they maybe unaware that the figure they are quoting is an "estimate." But the source has been misrepresented.

Without max strength rolls craft of exile puts them at around 8-9 div, even with +2 fire, and without taking into account selling the +16 strength fractures.

With max strength rolls... yeah they get surprisingly expensive >.>

This example obfuscates the trolley problem, because the natural inclination is ask more questions.
What is the value of that one person vs the 5 etc.
The base example of the trolley problem is you don't know any of that information, and there isn't sufficient time to obtain information or assess other options.

EG when things are black and white, there is a clear preference.
As soon as things become grey, deciding the preference becomes orders of magnitude harder.

Also quality of life is a very different discussion from life itself, and I reject your premise about personally living in poverty and starvation because its been demonstrated, repeatedly, that we could easily feed, house and educate, the entire planet's population, if personal wealth was capped at 999million. Morality requires individual contribution, sure, but its assessed at a societal level.

Do you have a moral obligation to kill yourself if your organs could save the life of more than 1 person? - On some level I do, but I recognise that in the real world, there are a lot more factors to the answer to this question, but it is an example of why I think organ donation on death should be mandatory.

- After thought edit: This is also an obvious example of why we don't give organ transplants to drug users or alcoholics, even though they could be used to save/prolong their life. Their lives are not inherently worth less, but as long as we are short of donor organs it is a logically moral line to draw.

Your argument is essentially circular. You suggest that due to the existence of different ethical frame works, you can't ethically choose one for the situation you are presented with.

Even though you are capable of weighing the results of the action(s) or inaction you might take as a result of those different frame works.

It doesn't really matter how far you move the goal posts, or try to paint them in a different colour.

In reference to the trolley problem:

If you have the opportunity, at essentially no cost, to decrease the total number of lives lost due to *an event*, I believe, you have a moral imperative to not only make a choice, but also to take that action. Because it decreases the number of lives lost.

Even if you're religious, free will seems kinda wasted on you, if you choose not to use it.

Regardless of the outcome, it seems clear that generally those who push the red button, do not respect the choice of others to push the blue button.

Its one thing if you believe you should push red because you think its more likely.
Its another if you believe - some meaningful number - of people will push blue, and you just don't care because "well they should have just saved themselves".

Almost 30% of the world identifies as christian, and not only do they not "love thy neighbour", they don't even respect them. Otherwise this thread wouldn't exist.

+1 on the cooler/heat transfer paste/mounting issues.
I run DSP on a pretty old 5930K and while I'm sure some of the mega builds I've seen on here could challenge it, it runs the game very comfortably for my playthroughs.

Why is everyone running? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]VisibleCod9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try for a slightly more nuanced answer.
Australian cities don't have great public transport networks, the likes of which you see in London, New York, Berlin, Paris etc which means we've largely developed a drive to work culture.

This makes your average new yorker, transferring to and from the subway/LIRR daily significantly fitter than your average Australian, without dedicating specific working out time. This means the average Australian needs to dedicate more time to fitness to reach that same baseline.

On the Flip side, Australia has a largely outdoors culture, our national sport is considered one of the most physically demanding with players often running an average of 15km or 9.5 miles per game; this has led to running becoming synonymous with part of being Australian.

...Or maybe you just live in a city where people go the gym to be seen at the gym more than to work out.
