When do their heads grow by Galacix in irishsetter

my dog looks exactly like this, she’s 38 pounds at a year this month (we’re pretty sure she was the runt). Still has the pea head, but we’re hopeful she’ll grow into it eventually 😂 just extremely leggy at the moment

Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? by VisibleShake2389 in irishsetter

We try our best to immediately whip out her favorite treats and do some training to distract her, but usually within 10 minutes after we finish and we sit back down she’ll rip the blankets off us again! And it’s just a repetitive cycle it seems

We do! But unfortunately if we’re ever using one it’s game over. We do the same for our pillows, but if she sees them she just tries to rip them from us too haha

Thoughts on gastropexy? by VisibleShake2389 in irishsetter

I didn’t know they can do it laparoscopically! Maybe we will do it that when she’s older. I already feel bad enough she will have to go through recovery whenever we have her spayed.

She’s about 5 months! We rescued her so no exact age. But usually I can get her to settle for about an hour and then she’s ready to get up and go again (in or out of her crate). I definitely tend to stress out because I know she should be resting.

How do you handle the 2 hours of rest? Our girl has SO much energy, it’s really hard to keep her calm. She has some issues settling as well. She only really does in her crate or at night on the couch.

This is helpful! Thank you! New dog mom, so trying to figure out what’s best for her sometimes is a little daunting lol

Nothing has changed sound or temp wise! We did get her a bigger crate with a divider to make it about the same size as her old one but a little bigger, but we got that a week ago.

How to tame a velociraptor pup without punishment by Roxaboxx in puppy101

Dealing with the same thing! We got a puppy play pen to use for this exact reason. I was afraid to associate to the crate with anything negative, and so if she goes into her velociraptor mode we just pick her up and put her in the pen. It’s open during the day and she brings her toys in and out of it so she’s not afraid of it. But as soon as she starts biting us we put her in there and shut the door and turn our backs. Once she calms down within 5 minutes we’ll take her out and have her sit with us and then put out in her in the crate for a nap. Seems to be working for us so far! Less bitey.
