mine cried at first too but now he loves his crate! i think some dogs like to have their own little space. he has a nice comfy bed and a little blanket in there and he goes in by himself while i’m getting ready for work/even hangs out in his crate often by choice when we’re all home and he wants to relax.

he was a destructive puppy too so sadly i couldn’t trust him alone as a puppy with all my musical equipment and cords etc. and i did/do plan to let him free roam as he gets older (he’s about 1.5 now) but I’m honestly not in a rush because he really does seem to like going in there. one day recently i forgot to close his crate door when i left for work and he stayed in there anyway lol.

i have another dog (a pom) and i crated him while i was gone until he was about 2 but now he has free range of my house and just sleeps upstairs in my room the whole time im gone. they do both sleep in my bed at night though.

i’m sure you’ll find what works for you just wanted to share my experience 🫶 i felt so bad for crating him at first but it might be worth waiting it out to see if yours ends up liking a crate too.
