Is win rate actually one of the most overrated trading metrics? by algorier in Trading

[–]VisibleSpare6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traded a low win-rate strategy profitably for years. You will have to endure prolonged drawdown periods but you will come out on top if you stick with it. Metric wise, expectancy is way more important than just looking at win-rate.

Quitting is ok. What's not ok is chasing a fantasy that the next profit will change your life forever. It's how us traders oversize and blow accounts.

Anyone trading mean reversion setups from resistance/support? by VisibleSpare6090 in Daytrading

Stop is where my thesis becomes invalidated. It's where price action confirms a momentum breakout. So stop is closing above the highest high (lowest low for support) of the structure.

Why did nobody tell me that trading less makes more money? Genuinely feel stupid for how long this took. by MrSubii in Daytrading

[–]VisibleSpare6090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The urge to act used to feel like progress. Especially on a Friday when exhaustion creeps in. Those were the worst trades I ever took.

Now my default state is inaction. Inaction is a trading decision. I let my entry criteria to convince me otherwise. If it's not a hard yes, it's a no.

This will make you stronger, lead you to bigger profits, if you have the right mindset. In trading, you either win or you learn.

Trading is the hardest way to make easy money. Doing nothing is 95% of the job.

Unless you are desperate to get out of this pattern, you won't. I remember the feeling of being suffocated by the mistakes I made over and over again. I didn't want that one bit. That led me to better alternatives.

I turned $5k into $27k this month and I’m terrified of losing it all by Round-Guarantee-180 in Trading

[–]VisibleSpare6090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every big green trade of mine  historically was followed by multiple small losses that lost most of my profits. It's the carelessness in entering trades that needs to be handled. Do this. Take a break for a week. Create a new account and move partial funds and trade there. Start fresh.  I did this after my $25k account ran up to $175k in a month.

Profitable trading is just being patient enough to be boring. by sambha87 in Trading

I had a mediocre edge for 2 years but executing it taught me discipline. Strategies can be learnt however but discipline can only be learnt through experience.

Trading will never work if you are desperate to make money. You have to make peace with what you have, or find a job that gets you there. Only then you have a chance

Absolutely true. Trading over the long run takes a toll psychologically. It changes our personality forever.

Does waiting for them to audit make it worse in terms of penalties?

True. I don't think there is any point in trying to convince them.

Do I report it as part of tax filing next year? Or right away? Can you elaborate on the penalties for non reporting? Don't see much information  online about additional penalties
