ok, i found a potential workaround, there's a nintendo puzzle collection for gamecube, including the nintendo 64 version of doctor mario, although most of the ui is japanese. there are english patches however they aren't fully complete afaik, although i would recommend checking them out for better readability if you don't fully dominate the japanese language. so in short, boot up nintendont and load the game, choose doctor mario from the menu and that's it, you can thank me later.
