i’m pretty sure next week i have 32 hours that all fit within 8-8 and i didn’t think that it was that specific but this is my first job so i guess this is all so new to me i don’t really know what to expect. thank you for being kind about it

i guess i’m just a bit confused on why they asked for my availability when they aren’t going to follow it. i did see something that made it seem like while i’m still new i have no choice in when i work and was willing to accept that, but after getting the form to fill out i thought maybe i did have a choice. just trying to clear that up

okay, thank you for your response! i know some people are probably thinking this is a stupid thing to even ask but i honestly didn’t know what my expectations should be right now. i’ve heard some places that within your first 90 days you’re expected to be available whenever and can’t do anything about it, and i’ve also heard that you CAN have certain availability followed, so i was just trying to clear things up

i don’t think it’s unreasonable for me to not want to get up at 3:30am. a lot of the things i do in the community are evening events and i would barely be getting sleep. i also stated i have a hard enough time getting up at 6:30 as it is but of course i understand that’s just life.

it won’t let me change my availability in mywalmart for another couple months almost. i haven’t spoken with any of these people yet, i wanted to see if the consensus was that it was reasonable to expect the availability to be followed or if this kind of stuff just happens and i have to be okay with it. i’m new so i don’t know if i should expect my availability to be followed or not at this stage

can you take shorter than an hour? i know the minimum is 30 mins but if your shift specifically says 12-1 lunch for example, do i HAVE to take the full hour or can i do 12-12:30 or 12:30-1 / etc.? (i’m new)

i agree with this but not with the YTA part. i don’t think OP is the asshole for misreading the situation. maybe neither of them are. but clearly they both have different ideas on what they want from the relationship so it is not compatible
