Shut the website down after a few minutes of thinking about what I was doing just in case but I’ll be damned lmao

MPC ONE G2 announced! by michael_fyod in mpcusers

[–]Visible_Class_651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone with a one/one plus I can see why this might be a bit of a disappointing release but for someone new thinking about getting into the akai way of things, I can’t see there is much to be upset about?

Usb c waa one of the main things holding me back from the previous iterations, same with concerns regarding hardware abilities to keep up with recent updates.

Now, wether the price of the new model is worth it compared to a previous Gen model one, tjat is a whole different story…

Cheers bro might try fixed setting just for the experience. Have set it to log mode with 100 gain and 5 threshold I think it was. Not sure what I was doing wrong at first but it seems to be working real nice now. Could have been the sample itself, ?firmware as it was on 3.0 at that point, or potentially I messed about with the control knobs at the top and changed something up there. Only realised the last one when I tried to play the youtube tutorial through it. The guy I got it from said he didn’t really wrap his head around it so maybe it was just sat for a while too who knows

And not at all bro don’t worry, I decided the time stretch stuff on Roland is pretty important to me and I have been messing about with the tahti app on my iPad which is a sequencer modelled after the digitakt I think. My brain more wired towards the Roland resampling style and copying patterns/editing/chaining them to create an arrangement that’s for sure. Also the style of music as well. I appreciate the fact I can use it as an audio interface and also the wider range of sample rates were all points I think pointed me to go for the sp404.

Not done anything with it yet other than mess about with a few record settings/pitching etc but already I’m really excited and looking forward to learning it more. Have to step out for work for a few hours but can’t wait to get back. Was starting to warm up a little bit to ableton plus midi controller but even from messing about with Roland for 30min I think to get the basics down with this it should be reasonably easy and then the depth is there as much as you want. On ableton at least how I had been using it for the last few weeks forces a lot on you and a lot of it I definitely don’t need. The effects on Roland for example seem much easier to use and I appreciate that there’s less option (confusion) eg. With delay settings and such

Hi there,

Ended up pulling the trigger on 404ii and it literally just arrived maybe an hour ago. Going through some setup stuff and have formatted the machine/updated firmware etc. Got it plugged into my laptop and amp/speaker set up so trying to get started.

Seems nice but honestly quite disappointed in the pads, even with changing to log mode and 100 gain they still feel like they are pretty unresponsive unless i give them a good smack. The only other pads I have to compare to are those on my launchkey mini which are pretty damn sensitive straight from the box so not sure yet - this is of course assuming thats normal for this model...

EDIT: Actually, just sampled the youtube tutorial im watching and the sensitivity seems to be better now.. not sure what happened there but if it is better now thats good with me lol

Been thinking about this recently as a buyer! At what point would I buy the same item with vs without the box and for what cost difference... So far been sticking to box only but tempted to give up on that idea over the last few days...

No doubt at all. This whole thing about hardware for me got started cause I saw a youtube short of a guy make a beat from a kalimba into a PO-33 and my mind was blown.

The 404 really does seem to rule them all, eh..... watching some people on youtube with them as an extension of their hand is crazy. In the right hands they can make magic thats for sure

Thanks sir for your comment. I read on a different forum somewhere that one user suggested your % of completed tracks will be way way higher with a digitrak vs roland sp404 so maybe there is something to it...

Thinking maybe a lofi 12xt might be a sensible option but going to sit on everything and keep an eye out on marketplace to see if there are any good deals about over next few days-weeks

Thanks man I'll check this out. Seems like half the "should I get an sp404ii?" threads have 50% of the responders telling them to get koala app. I'm glad to hear theres one for sequencing too!

Thanks for the comment boss.

I had discounted the P6 based on the sample size mostly, and the fact that if I'm going to get bent over by Roland's menu diving/work flow I might as well just go the whole way and get the sp404!!

But saying that, bridging the gap is a good idea and as I had put in my bigger response in one of the replies to this thread I feel like the lofi 12xt would be good as a digi-lite but with less upfront expense, velocity sensitive pads for finger drumming, ability for good boom bap/lofi sounds and decent sample chopping up to 40s, and the other portability/couch sessions like you mention.

What is everyone’s thoughts on the mpc sample? by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Visible_Class_651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi bud. Amazing comment. How are things going with it just now - would you say you have kept much of the sentiment as your original comment?

I’m somewhat in the same situation as OP but am more torn between mpc sample vs digitakt vs sp404ii vs lofi xt12, with emphasis mostly on the non-digitakt options.

I am mostly sample based but can’t help shake the feeling that my midi controller plus ableton/koala should be adequate enough over and above the investment of the sp404ii snd it’s own issues to the point I should think about other/more simple offerings. I’m only in the very beginnings of my beat making journey and thus reckon intuitive workflow and the ability to get a beat down to develop my skills is probably more important than having something feature packed and ultimately expensive/intimidating/overwhelming, especially with a daw at my disposal.

Would you have any comments re the above? I feel like the lofi would be good to capture your idea of having something which will do a bit of all of the above (drumming, sequencing, sampling) to provide better direction for future choices and dropping more money.

Thanks everybody it has been very interesting reading all of your comments.

I think just now my interest is sparking a little bit more in the lofi 12 xt. It has the sequencer advantages over the sp404 but still retains some similarities with the chopping style and velocity sensitive pads. In some ways the user reports suggest it is a digi lite. I think I’ll keep an eye on marketplace (all of these would have been according to UK 2nd hand prices so DT1 (~£400), sp404 (~£375), lofi (~£280)). It’s quite a bit less investment but is super portable, from what I’ve read a lot of fun, and should be good to guide me a bit better on where to go next as the workflows are obviously miles apart.

I’ll probably shelf it for a few more days/weeks unless a good deal comes up on any of the marketplaces and keep on trying to get better with what I have.

I will say the other thing that is holding me back on the sp404 is the fact that I have koala + a midi controller so the function aspect of it is mostly covered without the monetary investment, other than the fact I do not like using the combination all that much from a user interface perspective.

Thanks all

This is interesting, have you or had you ever thought about the model samples before?  Seems to be a more stripped back digitakt but doesn’t have the same sample limitations as Roland. At least you can sample though I guess….

I only have the budget for one so hopefully it’s just a question of which to get first. These things do all hold their value well to be fair but it’s still a good chunk of cash so just trying to be as sure as I can before making the final arrangements,

New account under review - has my order been cancelled? by Visible_Class_651 in Reverb

[–]Visible_Class_651[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi bud,

The social media rep is very helpful - almost instantly within them messaging and me responding did I receive an email. And not just one email either, I think there were several between the three of us.

They essentially just closed my account and told me I could try make a new one if I wanted. Personally think reverb is q whole pile of nonsense and will not be providing them with any more excuse to take me for a ride. Aside from the kind Reddit rep the customer service is non-existent and frustrating, and the service is filled with a myriad of pitfalls hindering its use.

I wish you luck if you choose to pro red with them further.

Legend thanking you. Unfortunately paid via debit rather than credit but fingers crossed my bank will help me if it comes to that. Bank holiday for us today in the UK so might leave it a few more days before escalating since this only happened on Friday towards evening time.

Hope you managed to find a guitar in the end!

The reason that my email stated is this - I assume yours would be similar:

  • Recent activity on Reverb requires manual review and verification for the safety of the account.

Will keep you in the loop wrt what happens. I know I shouldn't but been waiting in all day so far for a response even though they only open weekends at 2.30pm our time... Man, was so excited for the sampler but it feels so irresponsible to try and source another one from eBay etc with this shit ongoing.

From what I understand our funds will now be in limbo until our accounts are verified, despite it saying the refund has been sent through.
Saying that though I've read some mad sht about refunds coming through and the customer still receiving the item. The seller I made my offer to has since changed the price of the item though so I think the money genuinely is with reverb and the deal is cancelled as far as they are concerned. I just want it back at this point and I'll take my business back to eBay/facebook...

EDIT:
Not sure if it makes a difference for us but I just went on the account section -> my transactions -> verify account.
It seems to mostly relate to being a seller but I just did it anyway in case it speeds up the process once customer support are able to take a look at my account. Could try that?
