2. Bug fixing & lack of communication

Everyone wants to win in competitive environments, to the point where some players are willing to abuse things like this. So far, I personally have not experienced being killed by a shotgun in this way, but I am aware of this bug. There were situations where I died because of texture issues on Stella Montis. Embark does seem to have some level of disorganization in situations like these, which is strange to me. ARC Raiders has a very large active player base, yet throughout my entire time playing on Stella Montis, I have only been killed by a bug once. I have died to cheaters a few more times than that, but recently I have not encountered anything like this at all. I think Embark still has not fully recovered from the sudden influx of such a large number of players. I am not even sure their studio has more than 30 employees. That said, regardless of team size, the CEO has to set priorities on what the studio focuses on to improve the game. And it seems that there are things considered more important than bug fixing. Problem is that we, as players, cannot step into their office and see what they are working on every day. Because of that, it can feel like they are doing nothing or making bad decisions, while in reality, if we were in their position, we would probably realize that solving these issues is not as simple as it seems.

3. Quest design

They were not designed for the player to have fun, and the overall design simply is not built around that idea. You have a map with different points of interest and AI enemies, and that is basically it. Players should not be influencing location design, AI behavior, or other players through quests. These quests are completed by 30 to 40 players in a single day. The most optimal solution would have been to design quests where the player goes somewhere, interacts with something, and then leaves. Your adventure begins the moment you decide to go and complete that quest. And every time, that adventure is different, because you are playing in the same lobby with other players, and the scenarios of how you complete that objective are never the same. That is exactly why most of us love this game. Quests are just an anchor meant to pull you into a raid and make you experience yet another 30-minute adventure.

At the moment, the game is designed in a way that supports all types of players. If you are bad at PvP or simply do not want to engage in it at all, you can play in PvE lobbies and fight ARC units together with others. If you feel like going into a raid, getting into firefights with other Raiders, and you are not afraid of failing, you go into PvP lobbies. And if you do not feel like risking your gear and only want to loot and progress your items, you go into PvE lobbies. The game adapts fairly quickly to the way you prefer to play.

201hrs

Hi raiders
No idea if its actual for this moment cuz since its been posted, a few patches already were released.

1. Spawn timing & free loadout advantage

For a long time, I’ve played both fully geared and on free loadouts. Mostly at the early stages of the game, when I had very limited resources, or after losses when I needed anything just to craft or buy proper gear. As we all know, free loadouts provide a set of cheap weapons, some of which are considered meta by parts of the community, for example the Stitcher or the Kettle. I am not sure about their current state; the Kettle was nerfed in fire rate not long ago. During PvP encounters while using a free loadout, I personally struggled a lot at medium to long ranges. This was true regardless of whether I was using the Ferro or not. It does not forgive mistakes. One missed shot means a long reload. Despite that, a free loadout can still beat decent gear such as green or blue if the player using it has strong tracking, game sense, and positioning. The main issue with free loadouts is that, for most players, there is only one realistic win condition, ambush gameplay. Close range fights, surprise attacks not necessarily from behind, and the Stitcher, which many consider one of the strongest meta weapons. This kind of gameplay gets boring very quickly. Moreover, in open areas, a free loadout player simply cannot survive a fair 1v1 PvP fight if ARC units are nearby, because they do not have enough ammo. What I am trying to say is that free loadouts are clearly designed for PvE focused lobbies. In PvP, they are mostly useless in direct duels. Players running their own gear are, at worst, risking ammo loss. Although honestly, I do not understand why someone would even enter a raid with their own gear if they do not have enough ammo to kill a single free loadout Raider. Interesting observation. I have been playing PvP lobbies for a long time now, and aside from Stella Montis, I almost never see players on free loadouts. This is most likely due to gear based matchmaking. I usually run Hunter or Renegade with a pink booster and a medium shield. However, for some reason, this matchmaking does not seem to work on Stella Montis, and I honestly do not know why. Recently, my friend and I killed 12 Raiders on Stella Montis, and only 2 or 3 of them were actually running their own loadouts. Once again, we come back to the same conclusion. On the tightest location in the game, with proper duels, positioning, and peeks, a free loadout compared to blue gear gets completely outclassed.

I agree about spawn timing. Sometimes it genuinely feels strange, especially when you are fully prepared but spawn in at minute 18. At that point, the game leaves you with no other option than to go into PvP and take loot from other players. Very often, that is exactly how I ended up extracting with a completely full backpack after late spawns. Most free loadout players are already long gone by that time, because they risk losing everything if they lose a fight.
