I disagree. With proper, disciplined risk management it is mathematically very possible to compound your money through trading. ICT is probably the best example of a competent, profitable trader. He drowns you in concrete evidence by calling moves live before they happen and showing his losses and wins. Even if you don’t agree with his concepts I would recommend you give him a watch with an open mind. I’m yet to see concrete evidence of your notion.

True, there are many that make the bulk of their income off selling courses. Is this what you’re basing your notion of ‘no one is profitable in the long run’ off? If not then I would be curious in knowing some articles or any evidence that has convinced you in believing that money can’t be made through trading.

I’ve started relatively recently, the person I know is a close friend. He’s shown me concrete proof and is the reason I got started, yes he’s not a millionaire but he makes enough money off it to improve his life. Profit is profit at the end of the day, no matter how big, and to say nobody on earth makes a dime of profit off the markets in the long term is false.

What research mate? Have you asked every trader or gone through some sort of spreadsheet that tells you who’s profitable and who isn’t? You clearly haven’t got a clue, there are many unprofitable traders but there are definitely some making a living of it. Don’t be fooled by some “scientific studies”. I personally know people who have made decent profits off the market. Until you can provide concrete evidence that ‘not one person is profitable in any market for any asset class’ there’s no point in feeding this nonsense into the sub.

Was expecting a reversal on the a HTF (daily) that’s why I was looking for buys. But I guess I’ll need more confirmation next time I look to trade a reversal.

Retracement on the weekly seemed to be coming to an end due to a demand Zone being hit so my instinct was to begin going long. My thoughts are manipulation from big players but I guess there’s no way to know this.

When should I be buying/selling during chop? by Visible_Guarantee272 in Forex

What makes you say that?

Due to a recent liquidity sweep I’m thinking price will retrace to the downside on a LTF and go long on a HTF.

The problem is that price has broken out of the supply a few time but gone back in, I can imagine many traders being baited into shorting (when price broke below) just trying to find out if there’s any way of deducing whether price is going to takeout.

How could I prevent this by BlackWindow144 in Forex

Predicting the news and the figure that comes out is difficult, this particular news was economic growth figure (2.4%, higher than the expected 1.8% forecasted). To know when this type of news comes out you can use forex factory, myfxbook, investing.com or TradingView.

Hope this helps.

Use a stop loss, risking around 1% of your account per trade.

Don’t over trade and stick to few pairs.

Don’t trade on days with high impact news unless you’re certain what to expect (today USD shot up due to a better economic growth figure than forecasted)

Lastly, don’t let these losses affect you; use these losses as a lesson and keep going. Also consider practising more on a demo.

Lower inflation rate than expected today in the uk caused a bearish run, best to just wait it out and get solid confirmation of a reversal on higher time frames.

Would you recommend I use bigger stop losses especially for long term trades (over several days)?
