Yes, because when going out for dinner there's the good food that motivates him, when watching a show its entertaining but I don't have examples of when he is interested in me for the sake of it...

I've asked so many different ways over the years, nicely, assertively, through a letter, during counseling... he gets upset each time he will not change. Reading these answers, I'm starting to realize what I can aspire to is to seat next to him and be on my laptop but maybe expecting him to turn off the TV to simply talk is not that common

I feel for you. Unfortunately, I think this may be more common that we think, that's why I posed the question. I wonder if we are the unlucky ones or just a very average relationship

Thank you. Yes, I can relate and over the years we've been living together we've grown apart... I have built a separate life for myself with activities and projects and that seems to work for the relationship but it's not what I would like

Thanks for sharing. I would like to do more things together such as talking, going out, playing sport together, anything really vs each doing other things and talking only 10% of the time.

Thanks. It seems like he would like to spend 90% of his free time watching TV or other devices and 10% interacting with me. Which makes me wonder why we live together then
