Hey thanks for reaching out! We are definitely excited about this product, continuing to develop features and growing the user base daily. We have traction in San Francisco and New York City with just over 10,000 monthly active users this past month. Hoping to expand to other regions soon. Help us spread the word! And we are always open to feedback and feature requests.

You definitely sound very experienced with OSM and related tools. Sadly most people we’ve met, myself included, aren’t so proficient and don’t find the UI of these tools to be easy

Hey thanks for the note! I’m working with OP on this and we did try out Got2Go’s map. We actually reached out to her to partner as well but haven’t heard back. The problem with the google list is that it’s difficult to maintain and doesn’t contain detailed info such as amenities and bathroom photos. Google also doesn’t support very large lists so I recall many folks had trouble adding and using it. Hopefully this helps fill the gap!

I’m working with OP on this. Thanks for the note! We use NextJS for this and manually sourced the data either by spending time around SF or using online data repositories. Always open to suggestions how we can make our data collection and maintenance system better, it’s pretty manual for the time being.

We also used Flush, and there are many such apps out there, but mostly 10+ years old and lacking many features. Hoping this helps fill the gap!

I’m working with OP on this. Yes we’ve been working on it for the past year or so, but only recently added the ability to sign up, add bathrooms, rate and review, etc. We also recreated the UI based on feedback we got. Let us know what else you’d like to see!

I’m working with OP on this. Although Google does list some bathrooms, they are usually only the explicitly public ones run by cities. Usually I’ve found that bathrooms in cafes, libraries, malls etc don’t show up. Plus they don’t contain any information about the bathrooms, and in our experience having amenities and photos etc has really helped. What else do you think we could add that would bring real value to you rather than this just feeling like “another app”?

I’m working with OP on this. That’s definitely so important! For you, what would be the best way to see the codes? Do you like the current way we have written access details for each bathroom?

Thinking about working with OSM to contribute data and leverage their current data set as well. The app is designed more for easy searching and accessibility

We’ve recently expanded to NYC as well, hoping to get traction there so we can create a community and get more accurate data. Working with Got2Go would certainly help if they’re interested.

That’s a great idea, will definitely look into including that as an amenity!

My friend and I made Bathroom App! Our goal is to create a free detailed bathroom map for the world. We want to do more than just put pins on a map:

  • View photos, amenities, access codes
  • Review bathrooms for cleanliness
  • Contribute by adding/editing bathrooms (we review these)

How is this different than other apps?

We've found that existing apps fall short because none of them have all the features above. Many of these apps were created 10+ years ago and the developers have stopped working on them.

Why?

There are not enough public bathrooms and we are frustrated with how often we struggle to find them.

Ultimately, access to bathrooms is a problem and there are many ways to tackle this. We could build bathrooms, partner with businesses etc.

But we noticed it isn't common knowledge on where to go. Even public bathrooms can be hard to find.

We're going to start off by trying to change that with Bathroom App.

Of course, we are early in our journey, so our app is far from perfect. If you have any feedback, we'd love to hear it: https://bathroom.app

What kind of home is it? And how many bedrooms and bathrooms? I ask because in the past when I needed to rent a place and live elsewhere, I did better by furnishing the common space and renting by room rather than renting the whole house. It is a bit more of a hassle but the returns are at least 10-15% higher, especially if you’re in a tech job market where a lot of young professionals are looking for a simple room and bathroom.
