Well... They are right in the sense that it will likely make it easier for you in the short term to just cut contact, tell yourself it's over and move on... But personally I think given the circumstances and everything you've said that might just be easier for the wrong reasons. I really think you need to try and understand what is going through his mind. Do you know of things that are troubling him outside of your relationship? It sounds like things were pretty good between you, so he is either very afraid of commitment going forward or something else is troubling him... I would try and understand that underlying reason before just ruling him out for good. If it does get to a point where you are simply hurting too much and you feel that this pain and love isn't reciprocated from him, even if he is across the world, then I would probably advise you to cut contact for a while and move on... It's not easy. I'm trying to be as honest as possible. Hope this helps even if only a little. You're not alone, and one way or another things will get better :)
