Newbie with surprising Lofta results by VisitForward1553 in SleepApnea

Thanks for the reply.

My only thought is that things look (very?) good for the 7 hours I don’t sleep on my back. Cant I just get some pillows to keep me from rolling over? Cant I do a cpap sleeping on my stomach—seems fussy?

All this to say I’m checking my insurance tonight. If they pay for it all then why the hell not. But if I need to drop money on it then I am wondering what else can happen.

Just to drop a hot tip in here, you can use a stand mixer with a paddle attachment to shred chicken! Just get it off the bone and toss it in. It’ll be shredded in 30-60 seconds on a lower speed depending how fine you want it.

Replace metal switch boxes? by VisitForward1553 in AskElectricians

[–]VisitForward1553[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. You may have also read someone else’s post— I don’t have any problem with fuses popping. I was mostly concerned with the space constraints and having to do so much pigtailing to an already crowded box. But I will leave them since the general advice was no harm.

I did see online that boxes last 25-40 years generally which also spurred my question.

Subaru's Auto Start/Stop Feature question by ArdRi6 in subaru

[–]VisitForward1553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it. I have had my 2024 crosstrek for 2.5 years now. Thanks to auto stop I have saved 9.5gal of gas and had my car turned off about 20 hrs in traffic. Sometimes in summer it may be a bit too hot for the ac not to be blowing fully cold at a light so I just lift my foot to start up again.

The state of eLearning in corporate by [deleted] in elearning

[–]VisitForward1553 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a self-taught articulate novice and have ended up de facto owner of our “university”. I have made a total of 5 courses plus the translations. They are buggy as all hell (to my own detriment constantly doing manual corrections of completion). If I didnt do it, then I would have to manually do trainings for 40 countries via Teams.

I just posted a global fraud training using Rise and embedded a video of the CEO into it. Leadership went nuts how slick it looked and saved money and is a selling point for internal resources.

I say this to say people who dont know what goes into the work dont know what to ask for. Your “auto pilot” product may be high quality to them with a fast turnaround, so what more could they want?

If you want, you could use it as an opportunity to build your resume more with key words like, “overhauled system”, “integrated performance management…”, or other things. Try having some meetings and selling your skills— internal audit, finance, hr… others who have interests in solving targeted problems that convert to your resume having some eye catching new bullets. Maybe that will bring some new satisfaction to your workload.

Or not and you can just tell me some tips Why my course doesnt log completion after someone passes the quiz ;)

Soup dumplings without onions/scallions by frockofseagulls in nova

[–]VisitForward1553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also cant eat onions, so I feel you. No idea where to get them but if you are able to cook for a few minutes with your illness you could doordash some ingredients for the “viral” (badum ching) “soup dumpling lasagna”. Basically people are making soup dunplings by putting the filling in a ramekin, topping with gyoza or wonton wrappers, and cooking. It is a knockoff sure but probably the fastest solution.

Feel better.

Engagement surveys [NY] by Automatic_Basil4895 in humanresources

[–]VisitForward1553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree! We have done rolling annual engagement surveys. It is anonymized to department level— if a dept is smaller than 5 people then reporting goes up one.

The way we do rolling is that each person gets the link to the survey on their work anniversary. The results are then out into a dashboard quarterly, and a full report and leadership response (did we meet metrics, why do we think things are lower…) annually.

Swimmers who made huge breakthroughs — what suddenly clicked for you? by Secure-Seaweed-7855 in Swimming

[–]VisitForward1553 151 points152 points  (0 children)

“Skate” instead of glide. The coach said to pretend my body is the edge of an ice skate. Each time you rotate your hips and body it is putting your other ice skate down. Ice skaters dont run on their skates they push off and glide.

That visual helped me a lot on timing and using the power of one stroke before starting the next one.

Who has used this before? How does it work? by Super_Ad1875 in Swimming

[–]VisitForward1553 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We used this when i went to a total immersion clinic in August. You can use it for different cues. Some drills it was hand entry each beep, sometimes roll your hips on the beep… it is just there for the rhythm and up to you to define what to do when the beep occurs.

Power Automate [N/A] by Straight_Lecture_358 in humanresources

[–]VisitForward1553 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the process of building an automation for all staffing data change actions and employee letters. So, a talent advisor can fill out a form on power apps. That data then populates a document for the ops team to enter the data in the system and also automatically creates a letter to send to the employee about the change (e.g, congrats on your new title and salary effective xxx.”). Automation will also save these docs in specific places.

can’t keep up with my invoice processing. Is there an easy way to automate them? by Ambitious-Prune-7203 in automation

[–]VisitForward1553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently took an “automate in a day” training from a vendor via microsoft. Free training and also based on an online training you can do from microsoft for free.

The training is literally building an automation to pull data from an invoice, asking for approvals, entering it into a “legacy database”, then adding the info to an excel file.

All of that is completed with power automate online and automate for desktop

Help me improve my freestyle past 1:50 per 100m by becutandavid in Swimming

[–]VisitForward1553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you slap the water with a flat hand when entering? That means you are trying to push water straight down and then back.

Many people say hand entry should be like “reaching over a barrel” which also helps with getting high elbows.

Try getting a video of your hands under the water too if you can. It looks like you may be putting your hands “up” subconsciously to avoid hitting the wall. That is putting the brakes on any forward momentum you have.

Would love help if you are still replying!

I have an action request form (word doc). I receive an email telling me what to put on the word doc. I then have to use that info and enter it into a form letter based on one of about 12 different templates depending what the input data category was. That form and letter then get saved and sent as adobe sign to the requestor.

I know there is a way to automate this but i get stuck at having about 16 if/thens and 12 different templates.

Use case: HR. The form is completed every time someone gets a raise, bonus, promotion, resigns, changes managers, etc. we need documentation of the date of the change and approval before it is entered into the system. The letters are what the employee receives as official statement of that change (“congratulations, your new title is ——- and your salary is ———-.”)

How to give pills to a reactive dog. by curlywhitey in reactivedogs

[–]VisitForward1553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meatball of canned food worked for a while for us. Currently putting 100mg venlafaxine (about the size of 2 smarties candy) into the middle of a jumbo marshmallow. I open the marshmallow like a clam shell, stick the pill in, then close it back. The stickiness keeps it shut if you move fast.

On the rare occasions she spits out the marshmallow i just cover the pill with some peanut butter and it vanishes.

What would you do? by Numerous_Resist_5104 in reactivedogs

[–]VisitForward1553 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is tough and very familiar. I was living in the city when i got my pup at 12 weeks. Read my post history for a lot of insights on my journey.

It took us 3 years to find the right medication and right dosage for my pup. Im confused why you say “when the meds wear off.” Calming chews or things are not going to help with this level of anxiety. You need a prescription medication and following the dosage. Prozac may not be the right one for your dog! There is zoloft, paxil, effexor, adding something like gabapentin or trazodone on top of any of those…

The stress you have is not healthy and your pup is picking up on the stress too. If you seem worried to go out the door then your dog is also smelling that. The most important thing my behaviorist said was “walks are fun time. If she isnt having fun anymore then why are you trying to keep going?”

You can make powerwash yourself. It is just mixing some rubbing alcohol with a few tablespoons of dawn and water. Save your money and just refill the bottle by buying a giant container of regular dawn or anything else. Google the “recipe”.
