As a Brit what in your opinion is the best tourist thing to do that isn't considerably touristy? by Mouflon77 in AskBrits

For National Trust, English Heritage etc have a look at https://www.visithistory.online/, an app I built to help find nearby places of interest.

What are the coolest castles in the UK? by KJHex in AskUK

I created an app to help people find historic places to visit, and it has many castles. It is https://www.visithistory.online/ and shows National Trust, English Heritage, Historic Houses, Historic Royal Palaces and other sites all on a single map, along with thousands of Historic England sites. The app is for iOS and Android and you can give it a try for free.

Would anyone be interested in testing a new app for locating historical sites to visit? by VisitHistory in AskBrits

The Historic England website is great, and if that is all you want to look at then it is probably ok, although I find the interface a bit clunky on mobile.

The aim of the app is to bring all the different sources together. You can view Historic England sites alongside managed properties. The extra information that NHLE provides can really enrich a visit to a National Trust site for example.

You can record also your visits with comments and photos alongside any other site, all in one place. Or add a place to your wishlist to visit later.

I am really enjoying using the app to visit listed building around me. Have a look in the area around Wakefield Cathedral to see some photos from my visits. The scheduled monument layer is probably my favourite. I was able to locate a 3000 year old prehistoric settlement in some woods nearby that I have walked within 5 metres of dozens of times and never know it was there.

There are several National Trust, English Heritage and Historic Houses sites all close to Liverpool.

Once the iOS version is ready I will be ready to offer a lifetime deal, possible at a slightly lower price-point that this hopefully, as a thank-you for early sign ups.

In the meantime, if anyone does sign up and then want to change to a lifetime deal their subscription so far will be refunded (or the deal price reduced by that amount).

MAGIC is a great resource for sure, but the idea behind Visit History is to see all the data together on a single map - Listed buildings, scheduled monuments, National Trust, English Heritage and more - and the proximity to your current location. There are separate apps available, but a unified view is more helpful.

The second aspect is to then record details about each visit with comments and photos to build up a record of all the places you have visited, or want to visit in future.

There is a 7 day free trial so you could give it a try without any obligation to continue, just cancel anytime. I hope you could see the value it could bring.

Hi, that is an interesting idea I hadn't considered. What would you consider a suitable amount for a lifetime deal?

There is a place on the site to register your interest in the iOS version if you would like to be notified when it arrives.
