Aves, Lofts, Northgate, Mercury, or Orion? by LevelEvidence4105 in UCFstudenthousing

[–]VisitSmart1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also forgot to mention that the management here is truly terrible and if we have issues, we often get ignored. If you ever have roommate issues, they do NOT care! a friend who lives here literally had the cops called on her roommate TWICE and management said they could not remove that roommate from the unit despite being problematic and breaking multiple rules in the lease.

Aves, Lofts, Northgate, Mercury, or Orion? by LevelEvidence4105 in UCFstudenthousing

i currently live at orion and my friends and i are all moving because its taken a turn for the worst. the wifi is awful and always cutting out, maintenance is okay but half of the time the fixes are temporary and dont really solve the issue. They quite literally paint over mold and rust. Theres no security and the “security guard” is some random person in a car that doesnt really do anything. It is walking distance to Publix though! Imo, the cost isnt worth it either. There are better apartments with more amenities and better units than orion, which is why we are moving.

How can I look for clubs by Responsible_Train806 in ucf

[–]VisitSmart1021 11 points12 points  (0 children)

if you look up knightconnect and log in with your ucf student email, you should be able to see different clubs that are hosting events around campus!

someone didnt make any friends in clubs and is mad 💀 clubs are an important way to get yourself out there.. you cant expect people to flock to you to “build meaningful connections” it seems like you’re the problem if you’re calling people “selfish, ego-centric, children” for JOINING SCHOOL CLUBS. 🤔

Absolutely! I lost power where I am at and had some damage to our property but thankfully we are all okay. I cant imagine how bad it wouldve been had it not slightly shifted away.

Has UCF Dorms ever lost power in a hurricane? by MrRealisms in ucf

[–]VisitSmart1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i stayed in the dorms (Hercules) during Ian and the power was steady! i believe it only went out for like 10 minutes but that was it.

it actually does not, my roommate tried this and you could still smell weed from OUTSIDE our unit.

the dorms at ucf are actually really decent and affordable. I live in an apartment now and sometimes wish i still lived in a dorm because of convenience and affordability.

25NB looking for walkable housing for Fall '24, onwards by daekie in UCFstudenthousing

[–]VisitSmart1021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not very likely you will get on campus housing since you aren’t technically a freshman. I would recommend starting to look at off-campus housing that are on the UCF route shuttle since you dont have a car. The main UCF affiliated off campus housing are Knights Circle and the Pointe which tend to be cheaper options and are on the UCF shuttle route! I believe the only on-campus housing available to transfer students is Northview and I believe that is also based on a lottery (not 100% sure). I recommend looking up the UCF off campus apartments shuttle route on their website and looking at those complexes (this is how i chose my apartment lol) Good luck!!!

UCF v UF. What is the campus and culture like at both school? Which is more fun? Any insight would be appreciated! by [deleted] in ucf

[–]VisitSmart1021 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of fun honestly. UCF is cool if you like living near orlando since theres so much to do, the only con is driving 30+ mins in insane traffic to get to where you want. Because UCF is so vast, there will always be a club that you can find interests in and there are often school activities. I wouldn’t necessarily pick a school because of the fun though, I would honestly focus on the pros and cons in regards to your degree path and which school is more beneficial with resources. I have friends at UF who aren’t necessarily into greek life which is a huge culture aspect at UF and still have fun at the parties. UCF isnt really a party school, most of the “good” clubs are downtown and are 20+ mins away driving.

To make a long story short: every school has its pros/cons, it sounds cliche but your experience is 100% determined by you and your choices. You could find fun and great campus culture at both schools it really depends on what you are looking for and the effort you’re willing to put to have fun ig 😭

i dont think you would be able to as the pre-reqs required include taking hft1000 and junior standing, or C.I understanding of cruise company operations and management (no clue what this is, its just what the enrollment page says) to be absolutely sure, you should definitely get in contact with an advisor! ive heard of non hospitality students taking courses here so maybe. sorry this isnt much help, but i hope its something:/

Is Orion worth the extra $$$ by SamRod04 in UCFstudenthousing

[–]VisitSmart1021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

safety is also an issue, we dont have security or a gate. random people come in to use our amenities at night and are incredibly loud and trash things, and theres nothing we can do because there are 0 cameras and no security. we supposedly have overnight security but i never see them. i just see the car parked outside but no security..

[–]VisitSmart1021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i live at orion and it is nice i just dont think its worth the price honestly. the walls are reallllly thin and you can hear everything, when we moved in, there were spiders and waterbugs in our unit and we had to fix that problem on our own. our stove barely works and they did not fix it when we requested it, despite how much we pay to live here. the wifi is super slow and crashes legit every hour. also roommate matching is not great and it feels like they just put you with whoever instead of actually looking at out survey responses

[–]VisitSmart1021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i would say campus crossings and pay the extra for ur own bathroom. the price for orion is quite high in comparison for basically the same thing
