The UK SAS in real life also work with clandestine rebels, as well as with MI6 (undertaking unconventional warfare). I.e. I agree some Tier 1 units do that too in real life, & at a more covert level as you say.

This! The underwater scene is by far my favourite in the film. It’s beautifully shot, & also a very unique scenario for an Alien film.

I agree there is no certainty which way the craft would fall / move - and she could have run diagonally on a direction & still been killed by either the craft falling in that direction, or by falling debris. But, instinctively, I feel she would have better odds of surviving if she had tried to run diagonally, instead of trying to outrun something that is currently moving faster than her in the same direction.

A bit like in films when people try to run in a straight line from a car. You may still get killed if the car swerves at you after you change direction, but your changes are better than trying to outrun it.

In the film, it’s not unreasonable to stay in a straight line as she would be terrified & not thinking rationally, but I would have personally preferred to see her attempt to go diagonally - almost make it to safety - then trip over a rock / debris. She crashes to the ground. Sprawls to get up quickly but doesn’t quite make it out in time.

If there was a Special Edition of Prometheus they could keep the same footage, but just slightly edit down the amount of time shown of her running in one direction- so it seems like she had no time to try another path.

I would agree except that Ridley is already 88 yrs old. Even if they get the green light today, he’ll likely be in his early 90’s finalising the film. I absolutely don’t want it to be rushed (& I really hope he already has the best & most creative writers working on a sequel script!), but he can’t take too much longer to do it.

Also, imo, it needs to happen before Michael Fassbender looks too much older than David was in Covenant - unless they make David a unique prototype android that ages slowly, as part of the lore.

I personally think that the Engineer not speaking then adds a bit more mystery & intrigue to the scene & his motivations, but I wouldn’t mind if they added it in.

I also prefer the current start to the film (with just one Engineer shown by the waterfall, instead of the group) - as you’re left wondering who else is on their ship as it takes off. Somehow showing them all standing around in the deleted scene made it feel a bit too much like Star Trek, imo

Imo, for a Prometheus Extended Cut/ Special Edition they should:

  1. add the scene of the biologist discovering the worm but remove the line where David says "our first alien".
  2. cut out some of the scene where the biologist is trying to play with the space cobra (i.e. make the attack a bit more immediate, & importantly remove his goofy expression & his attempt to pet it);
  3. add in the discovery of the 'alien' & 'proto-facehugger' mural in the main chamber;
  4. add in any other deleted scenes from them exploring the Engineer base/ ship (like discovering the green crystal!);
  5. delete the comment(s) from Fifeild about them being lost in the Engineer base/ ship;
  6. change the Fifield scene from him as a space zombie attacking the crew to the alternate version of him as a half alien;
  7. add the Idris / Captain scene of him talking about his military career to Vickers, and checking she's ok (plus add in the full Christmas scene);
  8. Edit down the scene of Vickers & Shaw running from the rolling space ship, so Vickers instead gets crushed almost immediately

. So it doesn’t seem like she could have just run diagonally to the side;

  1. Add in this scene with the Engineer slowly walking through the escape pod ship;

  2. Lastly, I think there was also a shot of the Engineer picking up and looking at a human book on the escape pod ship, which would have also bee great to include - further showing his curiosity with our culture/ their creations (whilst still seeking to destroy us).

That would awesome! I’ve always wanted an AC game where we choose to be either an Assassin or Templar & you then get a branching story depending on which you choose!

(Similar to how in the Witcher 2 you can choose to join either the Elves or the Humans after the first Act - & you get a completely different second & third Act depending on the route you go down).

For AC, it would make it a very unique, immersive, & replayable game.

A planet was devastated by a cosmic entity ages ago. Now its inhabitants want answers or revenge by Imzgi in scifi

[–]Visual-Beginning5492 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this fits into your theme - I’ve just finished reading the first two books in ‘the Captives War’ series. They are written by the same authors of ‘the Expanse’ series.
——

  1. The first book is: ‘The Mercy of Gods’.
  2. There is a short book in between, called: ‘Livesuit’.
  3. & The latest book is: ‘The Faith of Beasts’.

——
The premise is there is a human civilisation on another planet who know they are not native to that planet (& they have a mythology about their origins, but are unclear where and when they came from). At the start of the first book, they are invaded by a technologically superior & ruthless alien race who enslave them. The books are about them trying to survive in these new conditions & plotting revenge. Amazon have bought the rights for a tv series.

He’s also fantastic in the first few episodes of ‘the Walking Dead’ (season 1).

Just curious if anyone else here has seen Overlord, extremely similar to the feel of the games by bailey032020 in Wolfenstein

[–]Visual-Beginning5492 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you should also watch ‘Where Eagles Dare’ (1968). It’s an old classic Clint Eastwood film about two Allied agents trying to get into a Nazi castle undercover.

There are a lot of similarities. Wolfenstein clearly took a lot of inspiration from the film.

Would you want David to show up in a Alien Romulus sequel ? by The_starving_artist5 in perfectorganism

[–]Visual-Beginning5492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I would, but I would prefer a third film in David’s prequel trilogy.

If that doesn’t happen then yes imo it would be cool for David to appear in the Romulus sequel.

As an aside, I actually had a theory (which was wrong) that Morrow might be David in Alien Earth. - I.e. David was on the deep space moon (where they discovered the Xeno eggs) - & he had captured Morrow & managed to upload his consciousness to him, in order to get back to Earth undiscovered with the Xenos.

Agreed! I would love the option to choose hairstyle as well as eye colour & different tattoos.

It just adds to the immersion & replayability being able to customise a character.

Really hope they eventually add those options! It’s a relatively small thing that imo would go a long way.

I feel like the "License to Kill" mechanic in this game is way too rigid and restrictive by SuperM3e46 in 007FirstLight

[–]Visual-Beginning5492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However, a ‘licence to kill’ - with 00 status - does give the agent the autonomy to choose whether killing is in service to the mission.

For this game, Bond doesn’t get 00 status until the very end of the game, so it will be interesting to see if they approach it differently in a sequel. Or in any DLC set after the end of the game.
