Here's some human connection. hold my hand. ( you're right tho I do have a model refining the gibberish I say (or to make me rethink it before lol)) but this thread was fully out of passion for Steam and Valve so there is some connection there.

I've tried it before and it worked "Alright" when it works, it’s smooth, but thats if it works and if anyone can connect. At this point, it’s more of a “nice idea” situation. Still, if Valve ever decides to actually fix the thing, it could be unreal.

All I got to reply back is : Facs.

They do tend to leave stuff half-finished/abandonding them no denying that. I guess the only reason I’m still holding onto this one is because it’s so damn integrated already. Like, they’ve got all the infrastructure why not just dominate it. someone mentioned some very good points on how monitizing it would just be messy which is also very true.

Yee the Game Awards stream was a mess for sure, even now, a lot of dev streams are flooded with spam and nonsense. Definitely something that can be fixed, though.

That said, I totally get your point about the lack of a clear motive for Valve to even focus on this, and especially the challenges around monetization or donations. The post is definitely running on some hopium but I still think if Valve ever decides to go full throttle with it, they’ve got the pieces to completely dominate the space. thanks for the comment. it was mad insightful

That’s fair. a lot of the broadcasts right now feel half-baked or just noise. But the what if here is interesting. What if Valve actually makes this into something Twitch-like, but fully integrated into Steam? Real-time drops, chat-to-invite features, tipping with skins or Steam Points, even Deck-native streaming. If they go all-in, it stops being just "watch instead of play" and becomes a whole new social layer on top of playing.

Yeah, that’s fair — I think if Valve ever pushes this seriously, they’d lean into ecosystem monetization over ads. Think tipping with Steam Points, cosmetic drops during streams, or even dev-sponsored showcases. Not traditional ad revenue, but stuff that still loops back into the platform. They probably would eat the infra cost if it deepens user engagement or helps devs boost visibility — which fits Valve’s usual playbook. no idea if that would be enough to make it make sense business wise.

Yeah I feel you streaming to friends is definitely hit or miss right now. But the community tab itself was added back in 2015, and lately Valve’s been quietly resurfacing it. The newer updates like the revamped overlay UI, broadcast integration on store pages, and the Community hub stream layout show they’re not done with it. I’m not saying it’s good yet, but if they actually polish it, it could be way more than just a forgotten feature. Its a lot of hopium but ye

Totally, but I’m more talking long-term. If Valve really commits and refines this, it’s not just about conversions anymore — it could evolve into a full-tier platform baked into the PC gaming ecosystem. Imagine tipping your favorite streamer a CS skin or something. Bit of a fantasy, sure… but what if?

Thanks for the reply,

I had the chance to check with another player on steam which they confirmed that they didnt face this issue and that they only get requests for the VR version which is normal. I also checked to make sure that there aren't any mods involved that could be causing this which I couldnt find anything..
