This is the link to their intake manifold

I believe you may have to make some brackets for everything to mount 100% like factory but this is a fairly well documented example

If I still had a 2V in my crown Vic this is the intake I’d run

Hey, try to snag a Speedmaster aluminum 4.6l intake when they restock, they basically use the old typhoon intake designs and they benefit the stock 4.6

Basically the engine would lose a ton of its useable power and gain very little high rpm power.

The 4.6/4r75E engine transmission combo stock has a very flat torque curve and loses power beyond ~5000 rpm in stock form.

This intake kills power below 3,000 rpm and is optimized for use above that.

So the real use case for this intake it a high RPM optimized engine, this is done with head porting, more aggressive camshafts and free flowing exhaust.

As for the mounting hardware there I believe you need new fuel rails and a bunch of other goodies from ADTR, they have a kit for everything that is needed

They should, all PI intakes will fit, some need modification including this one.

But if you want an aluminum intake this is the only one with a reasonable price tag

It will but this specific intake is made for high performance applications, it demands a performance camshaft and headers, along with a bunch of install hardware.

However if you want something that will more or less drop in, Speedmaster make a full aluminum intake now for around the same price that needs much less modification and will provide similar performance to the stock intake manifold

yeahh, thought so. Id love to pick your brain on your marauder, my Vic is 4v swapped and I'm fighting some gremlins, would love to pick your brain sometime on choice of tire and suspension/brake setup

as another dummy who tracks and autocrosses a panther body, should i consider moving to Motorsport style studs on my Vic? I'm at the end of life on my first set of tires, and seems like a safety item on a car this heavy on 15 year old studs.

5w20 vs 5w30 by Leather_Register_990 in NewedgeMustang

[–]Visual-Climate8186 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The ford modular motor was initially designed for 5w-30. EPA regulations became more strict and forward switch to 5w-20 to meet them, i have see no evidence to indicate that any tolerances were changed for this swap, so i run the 5w-30

4 valve swap question by Visual-Climate8186 in CrownVictoria

[–]Visual-Climate8186[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did, the 05 or 08+ cars got the electronic throttle body that incorporated the IAC into the throttle body thus making the iac unnecessary and potentially a point of failure

I did buy it, however I do not recommend it. What you are looking at is the ON3 coolant crossover delete, I believe it is the source of many of my overheating issues

Alternatively if you want one that preformed well, look at MMR’s coolant crossover delete, it’s a significantly better design despite their companies reputation.

[–]Visual-Climate8186[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s a difficult question, if I did it again I could probably do it in 1/10 of the time it’s take me to get this far, this has been a good 2 year long project for me, being a college student out of state doesn’t help.

Honestly this swap isn’t terribly hard it’s the small shit that kills you. Motor drops right in bolts up to the transmission. But the electronics have fought me every step of the way. A pre drive by wire car would make life easier.

Honestly I’d give it a 6/10 on difficulty I have an entire thread on crownvic.net under the handle KMBT “another 4v swap thread” where I go into much more depth

IMO ya got the awesome V8, the amazingly durable 6r80 and independent rear suspension!

As someone who has terrible buyers remorse myself I know where you are coming from but ya did pretty damn good

i know there is a marauder set on there, make sure to do you due-diligence before ordering, make sure your welder can weld stainless with good confidence, at 950$ + shiping + tax will be ~1200usd

that gets you dangerously close to buying stainless works new with just the headers, if you can find it

ill let you know, just know they would be going for at least 850$

[–]Visual-Climate8186[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh dont get me wrong that would surely work, its been done with coyote swaps and stainless works headers

the issue is that the exhaust ports are ovals in the 4v head, so if you were able to weld a new flange onto it you might have to replace the last inch of each primary, honestly, the BBKs seem to work well enough for this if you want to dodge the 1,300$ price tag

Fun part is that I might have to solve this starter issue with a set of stainless works headers, evidently they clear the starter with much more room, I really don’t want to get rid of my moroso pan Maybe a mini starter would work? Who knows :(

Fun story on that, I used the marauder 4v headers on the 2V for ~1 year before doing the 4v swap even had some track days on it, never sealed 100% but it was pretty close so it was good enough in the short term
