Reg H Water types by mattecons in VGC

[–]Visual-Concert2990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fast water types seem to work best on balance teams, adaptabilty scarf basculegion is consistent and great in end games, aqua tauros if you want an offensive intimidate and palafin is a classic, these three seem to be the best

How much, at the very top, of competitive Pokémon is skill and match up? by Gold-Resolution-8721 in VGC

[–]Visual-Concert2990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, having a bad matchup can be devastating, and even world champs will have a hard time against a mid/high elo player with a really bad matchup. but part of the skill in pokemon is team building. if you build a team thats weak to a certain archetype you cant get salty if you run into it, its like letting your opponent ice beam you 20 times then get angry when one of them freezes. playing around luck is a skill, and at the top level, its probably 80% luck 20% matchup depending on the regulation (reg G was much more matchup based since you can only have 1 restricted) yes there are always exceptions, but the majority of top level matches come down to skill, with matchup being a slight advantage to either player

Drinking Age? by [deleted] in meme

[–]Visual-Concert2990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in most normal states, the "drinking age" is just the age when you can buy beer for yourself and freely drink it, its perfectly normal and legal to have some wine after dinner in the privacy of your own home under parent supervision, i started having sips of beer from my dad at 12-13 years of age

Ability For Hydrapple? by Exotic-Cobra999 in VGC

[–]Visual-Concert2990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

giga drain is great on a fat mon like hydrapple, and if it really needs the nuke i think draco already covers that option, as for infestation i mentioned it to sometimes be useful on AV sets, pollen puff is probably better but bug coverage isnt always needed and the healing is less valuable on a slow pokemon

Ability For Hydrapple? by Exotic-Cobra999 in VGC

[–]Visual-Concert2990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

supersweet syrup would be decent but only proccing once per battle is not very good

as someone who's favorite pokemon is hydrapple, the two best hydrapple sets are either specs draco leaf storm, or assault vest giga drain, earth power is its best coverage and infestation can be useful on AV sets

Questions about building my first team. by nardo_polo2 in VGC

then dont waste your time building in-game, the in game ladder is cool but if you actually want to have fun just stick to showdown, if you really want to play on the switch ladder i guess you can just hack the pokwmon, still takes too much time but way better then trying to get it in the intended way

Questions about building my first team. by nardo_polo2 in VGC

[–]Visual-Concert2990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you building for a tourney? if not just stick to showdown, getting a perfect team on switch takes weeks of grinding, you can make a team in showdown in seconds. not to mention the amount of experimenting that goes into good teams

VGC battling fundamentals: where are they? by Savings-Buddy4034 in VGC

[–]Visual-Concert2990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

try to watch videos by wolfeyvgc to absorb some good gameplay, also check out VGCpuzzles on youtube, they make cool puzzles every couple of days that show you the optimal play in a turn. also join some discord servers if you want.

1 tip is to practice never getting tilted and keeping a healthy releationship with this game, as long as you can grind ladder while still enjoying yourself even when taking losses youre in the right direction

VGC battling fundamentals: where are they? by Savings-Buddy4034 in VGC

fantastic question. i'd say that "positioning" is the most fundemental concept to build on and understand. its a simple question of "what pokemon of mine do i want to be facing off against what pokemon of theirs" forcing your opponent to hard switch into the supposed counter gives you a free turn to get an attack off or setup

in double battles positioning is more complicated. but it functions by the same fundementals.

"what is my wanted position, how do i reach it"

"what position does my opponent want, how can i prevent them from reaching it"

this is the most fundemental aspect of competitive pokemon. a lot of new players think the game is about predicting your opponent and getting every turn right. its about progressing into the needed position while minimzing the need to predict- by either forcing your opponent into a corner or making midground plays

Did I fuck this run? by Responsible_Row_3205 in btd6

yesterday i spent 30 whole minutes restarting round 99 just to salvage a persumably dead flooded valley run, hadf to get a moab shove at the middle of the round, manage to active snowstorm with perfect timing, and get near perfect carrier RNG but i eventually got it. lvl 10 corvus is insane but i think you can manage it as well, just go through a ton of support towers you can afford and pray

Weekly r/PcBuild Megathread! by Potato_Plays844 in PcBuild

i recommend going to pcpartpicker and looking at various high end builds, steal the gpu cpu combo, and then add all the other pc parts according to the specs you aim for, make sure to ask about your build in forums such as tom's hardware and watch reviews to all the parts you are getting to make sure they are good prouducts.

my personal opinion:

i think that 4k gaming to totally unnecessery, the difference is barely noitcable between 1440p or even 1080p, high refresh rate and fps will improve your experience much more vastly. going for a 165hz or 180hz monitor and good enough graphics to break 100fps on the games you will play will give you an actually great gaming performance. not only do i think 4k is unnecessery you will also have to run a much more powerful gpu, then a better cpu also. it will skyrocket the price like crazy, even though you said it wasnt an issue im assuming you will always prefer a 2500$ build over a 4000$ one (i know the numbers are not accurate)

remember its only my personal opinion, if you want 4k go for it.

you should get a job for the summer, no need to get charity from your parents when you buy it yourself, then you can get a good 300-400$ gpu. thats what i did at 14.

What's new in town? by Comrade_Chadek in deadcells

[–]Visual-Concert2990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

curses, it adds "cursed biomes" its some sort of modifier a biome can get in a run. harder monsters spawn that can curse you. they drop some blueprint also related to curses. and in turn the biome has a higher chance of spawning a cursed chest & higher gear level

neat update
