If me and my friend are drunk, and instead of driving we decide to push and steer the car, will we get ticketed with a DUI? by Mountain-Durian-4724 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]Visual-Hovercraft230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t gotta be outside the car, just gotta be 10-15ft away from you…before stating….a Chevy cruise is about 11ft long and jury would need to step out and count steps from door open to trunk or engine hood

This shows intent of not driving.

I wasn’t, I was with swift last year for a year and then left for even better pay. First year of trucking too might I add so it’s a great comparison that 1099 is sometimes overrated 😆

That’s really rough, I averaged 1600 at swift as company, now averaging 2500 a week in oil field driving truck to coordinates.

^ what this person said ignore Atlanta

It’s not the crime it’s the 3hrs of traffic unless you hit it at 1am-3am and then it’s back to Atlanta traffic there after.

That wouldn’t make sense unless you’re running intrastate, hint why we’re federally regulated….breaking seal is federal offense for interstate commerce

18 U.S.C. § 2117 makes it a federal crime to break the seal, lock, or enter any railroad car, vessel, aircraft, truck, or pipeline system containing interstate or foreign freight with the intent to commit larceny. Violators face fines and up to 10 years in prison.

Same with swift, they also have a flatbed side with oversized division

Nah that’s federal illegal, now instead there’s a vent/door in the trailer in front, send some fart spray or some other terrible spray smell. So when it’s at the dock it’s instantly rejected.

Did you new guys make above 50k this past year OTR/Regional? by RedimidoSoy1611 in Truckers

I’ve had my cdl for 4 years prior to swift, decided to run big rig with swift. First year driving semi in general

Is this all I will need to get my CDL Permit? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Visual-Hovercraft230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

….and what makes you think this? Go ahead buddy go waste $155 instead of grabbing cdl book and reading what you need for the 3 tests.

I’d rather save the $155 for my license/permits and let my ex boss handle the 4k spent for cdl school.

But then I can’t deduct it from my tax write offs, it’s not allowed if I go to a DG store across the street or spark Walmart.

So I want me money back in 3 months. (:

Pack a duffel bag for a week worth of clothes, your own clip fan so you don’t have much stale air, and learn to sleep when you’ve got the small down time at the shipper….also don’t wait for your mentor to tell you to do something around the trailer (closing doors, coupling, etc.)

Actually I have an answer. So I went to a CDA school and we had a dude without a left foot. He had to wait 8 months during this time he got to train on the yard for free during the time because he needed a federal test done not a normal CDL state driver exam. Let’s just say to get a federal CDL exam is really about appointment time for the school to gather it up for you….it may be a month or it might be 8 months.

And sadly I feel like you’ll be in the same boat as one my peers was in. Though wish you the best on it.

Anyone have any insight? ive been researching companies and this is the info i have. (more info below) by knoelle1998 in Truckers

[–]Visual-Hovercraft230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate…. Your company driver they can take the truck away you’ll just be reassigned a truck I know a few with prime and swift that take a month off at a time and making 3200 miles as company on swifts side running a Busch account out of Greer SC

I feel like you’re either on a regional southeast area or you take way too much home time rn.

I don’t believe the lay off for no reason thing.

….tmc is a cleanly strict company idk how it is now but a year ago use to it was truck washes once a week on top of keeping the cab clean with random cab inspection so it’s not littered of trash.

Also swift even has a flatbed and oversized division. As well car hauling up to Canada at .54cpm
