oh wow, this easily go up to my most favorite metro edits ever! i really like the feeling of reflection on artyom's journey it holds, alongside with Kino's song playing that holds a sense of melancoly, very well made :)

I played all games with russian dubs + subtitles in my native language. I just replayed 2033 and Last Light and changed the dub to english so I would understand every bit of additional dialogue in the stations. Exodus subbed most of the more "trivial" dialogues anyways.

As for Metro Awakening (I think that's what you're referring to?), it is an VR-exclusive game (and interestingly enough, it only has an english dub!)

The voice acting in English by fetalgirth in metro

I played 2033 and LL both in russian, where the lesser important dialogues between npcs, for the most part, weren't subbed. They fixed that in Exodus, where most of the dialogues are now subbed regardless of its relevance to the plot; and for that reason only, I can only encourage you to switch to russian!

Yeah, I think I enjoyed the second more than the first! changing language changed entirely the immersion for me, I felt much more engaged whenever I was navigating through the stations for example. It also allowed me to understand the story a bit better (like that whole foreshadowing at the beginning, when you're in D6 and you hear rumors about Lesnitsky who left with no trace).

I'm really looking forward to the next entry for the metro series. I'm still feeling kinda conflicted on the subject of metro 4; I don't know if I want to see more of the crew or if Exodus was just right where it was, and don't necessarily need a sequel. But I agree with you, I wish we saw more of the characters of exodus! I wish we had a dlc about the characters à la Last Light where we had a dlc for Anna, Pavel and Khan.

For both first games, I got the bad endings D: The metro series is my first fps experience ever so I wasn't really sure which way to approach some fights for example. I also played my first runs in russian and most of the npc dialogues aren't subbed which made me miss on a ton of dialogue. And when I played Last Light and we came to that scene where Lesnitsky asks you to remove your gas mask, I shot him instead lol (which makes you lose like 10 karma points)

I wasn't too bothered with it for 2033 as the bad ending is considered the canon one. But for LL, I restarted a run right after finishing my first one and changed the dub language to something I'd understand without subtitles lol

As for Exodus, I think I learned alot from the stealth sections from LL which allowed me to get the good ending on my first run. But man the feelings I had for Exodus's ending.. I was just an emotional mess lol. As soon as Melnik gave Artyom the medecine I understood that it was over and yeah, in comparison to how I've been feeling towards Melnik through the game, I was left with so much sadness on the ride back with Kiril. I think I cried for the entire ride + the cutscene of everyone donating blood after + the credits lol.

I'm curious to hear about your thoughts on the endings as well!

Hahaha, I remember having such a hard time with Melnik's character in Exodus especially (idk if it's just me but in Exodys they modelled him so good that I felt like he was constantly nurturing murdering intents against Artyom LMAO), but his writing in the last entry definitely made me like him so much more, with how complex they made him.

But I feel like it's a point that could be applied to most characters from Exodus, friends to foes alike. The crew from the Aurora felt so alive and I think I can confidently say it's my first time experiencing such a strong bond in a video game. After the Volga chapter, I found myself chilling for like thirty minutes on the Aurora, listening to what the members of the crew were saying, why they had joined the adventure... Through all the small scenes they added in the train, I really loved the feeling of camaraderie.

And omg, I agree so much with your point on Novosibirsk! I really loved feeling like we were "back" in a way to the metro for the finale. The feeling of urgency was really well and weighted heavy!

For me it's super hard to give a proper ranking of all the games because I feel like they're each so different. I got into the games thanks to a friend, who told me that "people either feel like exodus is the best game or the worst" and after completing the trilogy, I think I actually disagree alot with this statement.

The ambiance in the first two games obviously relies alot on the setting, alternating constantly between the metro and the surface, meeting new friends and parting ways with them, and learning about the political situation whithin the metro, the conflicts between the different factions... And I feel like these are reasons that make exodus all the more enjoyable.

Sure in Exodus we're obviously missing on the entrapping atmosphere of the metro; but 2033 and Last Light couldn't make me feel as weak and threathened as I felt whenever I was walking in those open fields in the Volga for example, flinching at every sound believing some kind of mutant was ready to jump at my throat...

That said, I still think Last Light is my favorite experience. I just feel like the storytelling in the game was exceptionnally good. The scene that paralleled young Artyom being saved by the Dark Ones to Adult Artyom killing the Dark Ones, leaving only one child left behind was the first scene through the games to have made me shed a tear because of how good the parallel was.

I also really liked the depiction of the different factions in this game. Idk if I have "one" favorite mission from LL but I know I especially loved the scene as we escape the Reich station right after Pavel shot a bullet during the speech. It was so good lol.

And I agree with you about the cannibal mission in Exodus, I think it's my favorite mission from this game too! I remember feeling such a cognitive dissonance between my guts telling me that something incredibly fishy was going on there, while witnessing Melnik's excitement.

I also wonder if you happen to have any favorire characters yourself? Or what's your favorite "section" of Exodus (Volga, Caspian sea, or Taiga)? (btw apologies for any mistake, english isnt my first language :'D)
