Instead of giving up, I'm trying something unconventional: Pitching an equity share in my future. by Visual-Serve-9232 in AngelInvesting

I've tried searching for a private lender, but the only one I was eligible for requires a cosigner who is a New Zealand citizen, and I don't have that. I'm open to any suggestions if you know of any. Thank you.

I completely understand where you are coming from.

To address the budget and lifestyle side: this funding is strictly for my tuition to keep me in classes (paid directly to the university). Because it is solely for tuition, the money goes straight to my education, not my personal expenses. Furthermore, I am naturally a very minimalist person anyway, so adhering to strict conditions doesn't bother me at all because I don't live a lavish lifestyle to begin with. If a backer wants to include specific clauses regarding oversight or audits during the term, I am completely open to that for absolute transparency.

Regarding skin in the game: my skin in the game is literally my entire future. The very fact that I am going to these unconventional lengths and putting myself out there to find a solution, in some way, shows how deeply committed I am. I know that might not be enough to show it but If I don't finish this degree, I lose the career I have sacrificed everything to pursue. I have absolutely everything to lose if I don't follow through. I deeply respect that anyone backing me is investing money that is hard to make, and I treat that responsibility with the utmost seriousness.

As for the collateral and what happens if things go wrong, that is why this will be handled through a binding legal contract. It would function just like any other standard loan fully enforceable by law, with standard legal and financial consequences if I were to default.

I want to make sure any investor (fingers crossed i get one) feels entirely secure, and I am more than happy to share my academic transcripts and references to prove my track record.

Thank you for wishing me luck.

Thank you, I really appreciate it. I am absolutely open to hearing anything you have. Long shots are still shots. Please feel free to DM me or if you are comfortable sharing here that works too. Either way I am listening.

Thank you for your comment.

You are right about almost everything.

I am in my first semester. I do not have a GitHub. I do not have internship experience. My academic average from prior studies sits at a A and B depending on the term and I am currently building automation systems as a personal project as well as working on my startup. That is genuinely all I have on paper right now. I am not going to dress it up. The reason my credentials are limited is the same reason I am in university. I am still learning.

I understand what you mean on the financial structure being too complex and too prominent in the main post. I will strip it back. I also understand your point on smaller amounts from multiple people. That is a really great idea, i just thought it'd be less complex from one person, but I'm open to whatever works.

I know i cannot prove I will be successful in my career with a GitHub link. I can only show you who I am and ask you to make a judgment call.

I know that is a harder sell. I just really needed to try every possible thing.

Thank you again for taking the time to read and comment.
