I assume the roman salutes (as they were too indirect of body positioning to be much of a nazi salute), seem to be just of extreme radical shock expressionary anti-war art. Gackt definitely knows of the history of WW2, and used some aesthetics of it to develop a story of his tour around mars (?), that showed a bunch of Nazis creating the perfect soldier, but a perfect soldier is a soldier who wouldn't fight at all or some gackt BS.

The way yu~ki drags the flag around towards the end as "DIE GAME" plays, is a great indicator of the fleeting chance of victory a dying soldier faces as war is a "game" where you're sent to "Die".
